The lottery is finally going to resume!
According to reports, Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser said in an interview: "Our goal is to resume the EE lottery for all programs on Wednesday, July 6th."
Fraser confirmed that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is The Express Entry lottery is scheduled to resume in early July. IRCC made this commitment in April, promising to return the EE processing time standard to six months when the draw resumed for all projects.

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) in September 2021 has also been suspended.
Before the epidemic, IRCC usually conducted EE draws every two weeks, which meant that candidates with the highest scores in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) would have a chance to be selected.
But during the epidemic, IRCC changed some policies. The rationale for suspending the FSWP and FSTP draws is that it is strategic for the IRCC to prioritize economic immigration candidates amid Canada's international travel restrictions.
For much of last year, IRCC prioritized economic immigration candidates in order to achieve its goal of ,401,000 new permanent residents by the end of 2021.
However, this has also led to a significant increase in applications and in IRCC's inventory. In order to control its inventory and improve the efficiency of EE review, IRCC has decided to suspend Express Entry invitations to CEC candidates in September 2021 as well.
But the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) has not been affected, as IRCC has been trying to promote economic development in provinces and territories across the country. The latest PNP invited 636 people, and the score dropped by 44 points!
So it will be great news for FSWP, FSTP and CEC candidates that has resumed the draw for all programs! However, due to the suspension of more than half a year, a large number of applicants have been accumulated in the EE pool. This has also resulted in a very large number of candidates with high scores, and there are more than 60,000 candidates with scores above 450.
FSWP has always been the main way for immigrants to come to Canada. Before the pandemic, it accounted for 45% of all people who had obtained permanent residence through the Express Entry.
Research from World Education Services (WES), one of the Education Credential Assessment (ECA) providers designated by IRCC, shows that although the epidemic has affected the lives of many people, Canadian immigration demand for FSWP candidates remains strong.
Meanwhile, reinstating the lottery for the CEC will help those in Canada maintain their legal status to live in the country.
ITA candidates, for example, when submitting their application for permanent residence, they also have the opportunity to apply for a Transitional Open Work Permit (BOWP). The BOWP enables them to maintain their legal status in Canada while the permanent residence process is being processed.
As of September 2021, CEC candidates cannot benefit from BOWP without an ITA. Recognizing this, IRCC also announced in April that it would offer open work permit extensions to CEC candidates starting this summer.
This group of people will be those whose Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) has expired. But there is no word yet on when IRCC will start accepting work permit applications from these individuals.

Express Entry is an application management system for FSWP, FSTP, CEC and PNP.
Eligible candidates upload their information on the IRCC website. They are then given a CRS score based on their characteristics such as age, education, language skills and work experience.
When the lottery resumes for all programs, IRCC will invite those with the highest CRS scores to apply for permanent residence, as was common practice before the pandemic.
