The tug-of-war between Putin and Medvedev

is far from over. I thought that Russia would be completely devastated, but unexpectedly it suddenly experienced a big reversal. It all started with Zelenskiy 's visit to the United States.

Before Zelensky’s visit to the United States, Russia’s entire inner circle was basically in a state of disengagement, and what they said among themselves was often inconsistent.

Putin has repeatedly stated that he wants to end the war through peace talks, but others do not mean this. Putin's former friend Medvedev has repeatedly spoken harsh words against Ukraine, and even threatened to challenge all countries in the world that are unfriendly to Russia. Kadyrov Jr. of Chechnya Republic has also repeatedly called for toughness on Ukraine.

The inconsistent statements between the president and the people below are not a good sign, indicating that the top management has not reached agreement on certain aspects. This is very detrimental to Russia.

But this sign has changed a lot with Zelensky's visit to the United States. Since then, Putin has become tough again. He inspected the military factory, formulated a new arms plan, and stated that he would never give up on the Crimea issue. Why does

have this change? I think there are two main reasons.

First of all, Zelensky’s visit to the United States completely cut off Putin’s thoughts of peace talks.

When Zelensky visited the United States, Biden proposed three peace negotiation plans for him to choose from, including Russia's withdrawal of troops, giving up the Donbass region, and compromising on the Crimea issue.

The United States will not ask this for no reason. Behind the scenes, it must have had contact with Russia and reached a preliminary intention. As long as Zelensky can accept such a peace negotiation plan, Russia and Ukraine can basically sit at the negotiating table and have a good chat.

But Zelensky did not accept these conditions, and on this basis emphasized that Russia must make war compensation and punish the initiators of the war. This directly involves Putin's own interests. Putin saw that Zelensky was determined to carry on until the end and would not give up until he was pulled down, so he gave up on peace talks.

It should be said that Putin was the last to give up the peace talks. Compared with Medvedev and other senior officials, Putin had too many concerns. Medvedev's son was deported from the United States before, and he was furious with the United States for this. With his son being deported, he no longer had any worries and began to fight the United States determinedly to the end.

Now Putin has also given up the idea of peace talks, and has started to get together with other senior officials again, focusing all his attention on the battlefield and no longer having other hopes. This is actually a good thing for Russia.

Secondly, Russia may obtain certain commitments from Eastern powers.

Medvedev came to China almost at the same time during Zelensky’s visit to the United States and handed over Putin’s personal letter. With the war situation so stalemate, Medvedev would not come to visit for no reason. He must have something to ask for.

Regarding Medvedev's arrival, Chinese officials still made it clear that they would remain neutral and try their best to promote peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. This was a clear statement from the meeting.

China and Russia had held joint military exercises before this. Both sides' bombers landed at each other's airports. These were groundbreaking. Obviously, Medvedev will not go back empty-handed when he comes to China, otherwise he will not be able to explain to Putin.

Putin's personal letter will definitely not be just a simple greeting. Russia has reached a critical moment of life and death, and he will definitely need to seek help from many sources. It is unlikely that China will provide weapons to Russia. It can be said to be almost non-existent. It is impossible to break up with Europe and the United States for the sake of Russia for the time being. But it is still possible for China to promise not to take advantage of Russia's crisis to carve up its interests.

China is Russia’s rear area. Even if it does not provide it with substantial help, it is still important to create an environment in which it can fight with peace of mind. Otherwise, Russia will look forward and backward, and this war will basically be a confession, and failure will be a matter of time.

When the polar bear suddenly realized how to fight this war, it was a pity that it was too late, and the war had already reached the doorstep.Zelensky has just received a long-term military aid commitment from the United States and has brought a large number of weapons for training. Ukraine is now highly motivated and ready to push forward with all its strength. It was difficult for the Russian army to resist.

For Russia, don’t think about fighting back this war now. If you can beat Zelensky to the point where he is willing to negotiate, it will be victory.

is afraid that after gaining a little advantage on the battlefield, the Russian army will become complacent and open its mouth to the Ukrainian lion. If that is the case, it can only be said that it is his own fault.
