With the growth of China's economic strength, we have become the world's second largest economy, and can create more than 15 trillion US dollars of GPD annually. However, if we do not actively cooperate with overseas countries, the GDP alone will not reach the height of 15 trillion US dollars. During my country's decades of foreign trade cooperation, some countries have made some mistakes when dealing with my country's cooperation. For example, Indonesia unilaterally terminated its cooperation with my country a few years ago, and turned around and gave the order worth hundreds of billions of yuan to the United States. As a result, it finally faced a tragic ending and had to bear it by itself. What we are going to talk about today is the 2020 Indonesian palm oil export incident.
When it comes to Indonesia, we can think of the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway, because this is the first overseas high-speed railway project in my country with a full system, full factor and full industrial chain. Some time ago, Indonesia also helped us promote China's high-speed rail, which fully reflects the friendly relations between China and India. As an archipelago country, Indonesia relies on the export of palm oil and nickel ore , and its domestic economic prospects are bright, but the arrival of the epidemic has caused an unexpected blow to Indonesia's tourism industry. Logically speaking, Indonesia should pay more attention to the product export situation with its customers at this time, but what we did not expect was that Indonesia actually took the initiative to suspend nickel ore cooperation with my country, which made us very confused and angry.
First of all, the main customers of Indonesian palm oil are China and European countries, but in 2020, in order to protect the ecological environment, European countries chose not to import palm oil anymore. This leads to the fact that there is only one major customer in Indonesia, China, which means that we are the only "financial" of Indonesian palm oil. We must establish good relations with our country, but Indonesia does the opposite. The reason is that Indonesia believes that it will soon be China's turn to ban it after Europe's ban on palm oil, so in order to get rid of their dependence on foreign countries, they chose to interrupt nickel ore trade with our country.
But Indonesia thought the whole thing too simply, and they didn't know at all that it would be impossible to get rid of dependence and improve their industrial system without long-term precipitation. Indonesia's industrial system is not as backward as African countries, but compared to our country, there is still a big gap. But Indonesia is also very smart. They later negotiated with us, hoping that China can help them improve the problem of lagging industrial infrastructure. This is very unkind. If you have not unilaterally terminated your cooperation with our country, then we may agree to your request. But now it seems that if our country only wants to import Indonesian nickel ore and chooses to help them improve their industrial foundation, no matter how we calculate, we will lose money. So we rejected Indonesia's request.
Indonesia saw that there was no hope of asking for help from our country, so no one was willing to pay attention to the United States. But Indonesia's little thoughts on how the United States was unclear, so even if the value of Indonesia's nickel ore was worth hundreds of billions of yuan, no one was willing to pay attention to it. Obviously, Indonesia has paid the price for its immature practices. Nickel ore is not Indonesia's ace mineral like Australian iron ore. For the Chinese market, countless nickel ore suppliers have scrambled to get China's market share , so Indonesia is really too impulsive this time. Without calculating the gains and losses, we rashly terminated our cooperation with our country, and now we are facing a relatively tragic ending.
As a Chinese citizen, we believe that Indonesia must be extremely regretful of this move, but we also understand Indonesia's actions. For the sake of the country's economic development, Indonesia's move is undoubtedly in good faith. However, Indonesia lacks sincerity in cooperation, especially international cooperation, and every move represents the country behind it. I believe that after this lesson, Indonesia has also understood the importance of integrity in cooperation between the two sides.
