Operating room has actually become an indoor concert hall! An Italian musician was playing saxophone throughout the 9-hour surgery while undergoing complex brain surgery.

The team at the Roman Paidia International Hospital performed an operation on the 35-year-old man with the goal of removing his brain tumor. The hospital said in a press release that the patient underwent "sober surgery" so doctors can make sure they do not damage his neurological function.

Director of the surgery and neurosurgeon Christian Bronia introduced that "wake surgery" can map neural networks with extremely precise accuracy during the operation, which form the basis of various brain functions, such as playing, speaking, moving, memory and counting.

The doctor said that the patient said his musical ability was his most cherished feature and it turned out that having him play saxophone in "sober surgery" was helpful for the surgery because it allowed doctors to witness the brain functions he used when he played.

During the long operation, the patient played the theme song and Italian national anthem of the 1970 movie " Love Story " many times. He said that during these nine hours, he felt calm rather than fear. According to CBS , he returned to his normal life after the operation.
