As of October 11, the average concentration of PM2.5 in our province has dropped to 35 micrograms/cubic meter, which is the first time since the monitoring records were made in 2013 that it has reached the national air quality second standard and the first phase target value of WHO , achieving a milestone breakthrough. Many atmospheric environmental indicators, including the comprehensive environmental air quality index of the province, the average concentration of sulfur dioxide , the average concentration of PM10, and the average concentration of carbon monoxide , have also continued to improve significantly, setting a new best level in the same period in history.

Since this year, our province has thoroughly implemented Xi Jinping's ecological civilization thought and the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping's inspection and investigation of Shanxi, and regards improving the ecological environment quality as an important area for the welfare of the people. We have firmly shouldered the political responsibility of energy supply and ecological environment protection, maintained our determination, set our goals, and innovated measures. Focusing on the coordinated governance of PM2.5 and ozone , we have carried out comprehensive control of air pollution in autumn and winter and ozone pollution in summer, and vigorously grasped the deep governance of steel and coking industry, clean heating scattered coal clearance project of Shanxi central urban agglomeration, diesel truck pollution and other key areas of air pollution, overcome the impact of adverse meteorological conditions, and promoted the improvement of environmental air quality in the province to achieve new breakthroughs, and welcomed the successful convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China with outstanding results.

It is reported that my country's PM2.5 standard adopts the maximum margin set by the WHO, that is, the average annual concentration is 35 micrograms/cubic meter. The WHO's guiding value of PM2.5 is 10 micrograms/cubic meter annual concentration, and sets a transitional target for three stages. The first stage is an average annual concentration of 35 micrograms/cubic meter, the second stage is an average annual concentration of 25 micrograms/cubic meter, and the third stage is an average annual concentration of 15 micrograms/cubic meter.
