"As a founding member of Shanghai Cooperation Organization , China has played an important role in multiple areas of cooperation." Pakistani Prime Minister Shabaz Sharif said in a joint written interview with Chinese media recently.
Shabaz said that since its establishment, the agenda of SCO on social and economic development has become increasingly perfect. Faced with new opportunities and challenges, member states have introduced corresponding measures on matters such as connectivity, commerce, and industrial cooperation.
Shabaz said that China has played an important role in multiple cooperation areas within the SCO, including promoting the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Development Bank and building a China-Shanghai Cooperation Organization local economic and trade cooperation demonstration zone in Qingdao, China. Relying on the SCO, Pakistan hopes to benefit from the latest technological experience in China's agricultural field.
Shabaz said that under the framework of the SCO, all member states work together to deal with security threats and challenges and jointly combat the " three forces ". Pakistan is working with member states to ensure peace and economic development in the SCO region.
Shabaz said that leaders of SCO member states attach great importance to climate change. At present, the disasters caused by climate change have caused huge losses to in developing countries in , and Pakistan is one of the victims. Pakistan and China have a common position on the climate change agenda. Pakistan looks forward to close cooperation with China in bilateral and multilateral fields to promote the realization of common goals.
Shabaz said that the "Belt and Road" initiative has brought great help to the social and economic development of Pakistan . As an important pioneering project of this initiative, the Ba-China Economic Corridor has added new impetus to the already solid Ba-China bilateral relations.
Shabaz believes that the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor helped Pakistan to modernize infrastructure in the early harvest stage, solved the problem of energy shortage, connected the market, production center and port, and created high-quality employment opportunities for the Pakistani people. At present, the corridor has entered a stage of high-quality development and will continue to unleash the potential of cooperation between Pakistan and China in the fields of industry, agriculture, economic and social development, science and technology and information technology. Pakistan looks forward to working closely with China to accelerate the promotion of infrastructure projects with significant influence.
Shabaz highly appreciates the global security initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping. He said that Pakistan agrees with the common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security concept , and believes that the global security initiative embodies the Cold War zero-sum thinking of maximizing security through power competition and arms race with a coordinated cooperation development method.
Shabaz said that the Pakistani people respect President Xi Jinping very much and regard President Xi Jinping as an old friend. The many brilliant achievements China has achieved under the leadership of President Xi Jinping are the source of inspiration for the country and people of Pakistan.
