Ukrainian President Zelensky fired Ukrainian Ambassador to Netherlands Maksym Kononenko. The reason for the fire is not yet known.
Zelensky's office made the announcement Tuesday, but gave no reason to resign.
Kononenko submitted his letter to King William Alexander of the Netherlands when he began his ambassador on February 16. Soon after, the Russian-Ukraine war began. As ambassador, he kept in touch with the Dutch cabinet.
Kononenko confirmed his resignation on Twitter on Tuesday night. "My diplomatic mission is over. The presidential decree has been released," he said, and he also did not give a reason to resign.
Kononenko also wrote that the Netherlands has supported his country since Russia invaded Ukraine. "And I believe it will keep that way. Because we share the same values, we fight together for a peaceful future on this continent." Ambassador Kononenko met with representatives of the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security on Monday. They talked about Ukrainian refugees in the Netherlands.
