According to the Chinese Embassy in the United States, on January 2, local time, Ambassador Qin Gang said goodbye to people from all walks of life in the United States through social media. The full text is as follows:
I am about to end my term as China’s Ambassador to the United States. When he took office last year, Sino-US relations were faced with many severe challenges. Since taking office, I have conscientiously implemented the consensus reached by the two heads of state, worked hard to serve as a bridge and link between China and the United States, and committed to exploring the correct way for China and the United States to get along. During this period, I and the Embassy in the United States have received strong support and help from people from all walks of life in the United States. For this, I express my sincere gratitude.
In the past 500 days, I have visited 22 states in the United States, visited governments, Congress, think tanks, enterprises, workshops, docks, farmland, schools, and stadiums, and made many friends. The hard work, enthusiasm and friendliness of the American people deeply infected me.
Everything in the past is a prologue. I will continue to care and support the development of Sino-US relations, promote Sino-US dialogue and exchanges and mutual understanding between the people, promote the two countries to achieve mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, and make due efforts for the well-being of the two peoples and world peace, stability, and development.
