According to the news center of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan-Russian Business Forum opened in Samarkand a few days ago.
The Ukrainian delegation attending the forum was led by Zamshid Khojaev, Vice Premier and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, and the Russian delegation was led by Maxim Leshetnikov, Minister of Economic Development of Russia.
The heads of delegations of both sides pointed out the good trend of growth in the trade volume between the two countries. In the past five years, the trade volume between the two countries has increased by 170%, and by the end of 2021, the trade volume between the two countries exceeded US$7.5 billion. The two sides expressed interest in increasing mutual trade to $10 billion. The
forum pointed out that in Ukraine, the number of Russian-funded enterprises exceeds 3,000. In the fields of petrochemical industry, energy, mining and metallurgy, health care and pharmaceuticals, light industry, building materials production, fruit and vegetable processing, etc., we are jointly implementing about 200 joint projects with a total value of more than US$20 billion with Russian companies.
The heads of the delegations of both sides pointed out that cooperation can be strengthened in the fields of automobile manufacturing, chemical and textile industries, agriculture, pharmaceuticals and building materials. The forum pointed out that joint work needs to continue to be carried out in inter-regional cooperation and development to formulate new industrial cooperation projects and trade agreements.
Wu Investment and Foreign Trade Ministry said that the timetable of mutual visits between regions in 2023 will be determined in the near future, and the specific date of the next forum will be agreed.
