After the incident, the local civil defense department, police, etc. came to the school and transferred the students to the local rural hospital. The director of the Bochill Civil Defense Bureau said that a total of 110 students at the school have symptoms. However, according to the report of the Mexican Institute of Social Security, only 57 people were sent to the hospital, 56 were stable and discharged, and one person was transferred to the hospital, and is currently in critical condition. "We are angry about these things," the leaders of Bochill City said in a statement, adding that they are cooperating with the state attorney's investigation.

Some parents said that they asked a private laboratory to test the poisoning, and the results showed that it was cocaine poisoning. Many parents suspect that the students were poisoned by drinking water diluted with cocaine.

On October 8, the Chiapas State Attorney's Office said on social media that after reports of students testing positive for cocaine in local media and social media, relevant departments have conducted 15 toxicological tests, and all of them have negative reactions to banned drugs.

At present, the middle school has been suspended and the investigation is still underway.

This is the third campus poisoning incident in Chiapas in the past two weeks. At the end of September, 34 students were poisoned in a local middle school. Last Thursday, 10 students from another local high school experienced the same symptoms.
