Medvedev made the above comments on social media on Tuesday when discussing the assumptions of Russia's use of nuclear weapons. He refuted the remarks that Western politicians warned Moscow not to use nuclear weapons "diarrhea incitement"
Medvedev said the conditions for allowing the use of Russian nuclear arsenal were clearly and publicly elaborated in the country's nuclear theory. Moscow said it will use its deadliest weapon only if it or one of its allies is attacked by weapons of mass destruction, or if its existence is threatened in conventional conflicts.
He added that assuming Ukraine poses a threat to Russia's existence, Moscow can use nuclear weapons, but in this way, the risk of third-party intervention is too high.
"I believe that even in this case, NATO will not intervene in this conflict. For the alliance, the security of Washington, London and Brussels is more important than the fate of the useless, destructive Ukraine," Medvedev predicted.
"Shipping modern weapons to Ukraine is just a business, and it is also mixed with hatred towards us. That's all," he said. "[US] and Europe's instigators won't die from nuclear disasters. That's why they swallow any use of weapons in the ongoing conflict."
After Vladimir Putin's spoke last week, U.S. President Joe Biden issued the latest warning against the use of nuclear weapons. In his speech, Russian leaders claimed that the United States and its allies were seeking to split Russia. He warned that Moscow would use all available tools to defend itself.
Medvedev, currently the vice chairman of the Russian National Security Council, also warned that Russia will not tolerate a hostile neighbor with nuclear weapons.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky previously hinted that Kiev's promise of not possessing nuclear weapons can be revoked. Zelensky raised the idea in a speech at the Munich Security Conference in mid-February, which sparked an angry response from Moscow, who saw the remarks as a serious threat to Russia.
