As of December 31, 2021, the total number of Communist Party of China members was 96.712 million, a net increase of 3.434 million from the end of 2020, an increase of 3.7%.
The Communist Party of China currently has 4.936 million grassroots organizations, a net increase of 117,000 from the end of 2020, an increase of 2.4%. Among them, there are 278,000 grassroots party committees, 316,000 general branches, and 4.342 million branches.
◎ Intra-party commendations
In 2021, on the occasion of celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the party, the Party Central Committee awarded 29 comrades including Sister Ma Mao the "July 1st Medal", commending 6,400 outstanding Communist Party members and 300 outstanding party workers nationwide. There are 499 national advanced grassroots party organizations. Commemorative medals of "50 Years of Glorious Service in the Party" were awarded to 7.293 million qualified old party members. In 2021, party organizations at all levels across the country commended a total of 1.531 million outstanding Communist Party members, 555,000 outstanding party workers, and 444,000 advanced grassroots party organizations.
◎ Development of Party Members
A total of 4.383 million Party members were developed in 2021, an increase of 1.956 million over the previous year.

There are 280,000 workers (skilled workers), 687,000 farmers, animal husbandry and fishermen, 655,000 professional and technical personnel in enterprises, institutions, and social organizations, 468,000 managers in enterprises, institutions, and social organizations, and 232,000 party and government agency staff. There are 1.765 million students and 294,000 other professional personnel. We have developed 2.311 million party members on the front lines of production and work.
◎ Application status for party membership
As of the end of 2021, there were 20.625 million applicants for party membership nationwide and 10.091 million party activists.
◎ Party organization situation
Party local committees. There are 3,198 local party committees at all levels across the country. Among them, there are 31 provincial (district, city) committees, 397 city (prefecture) committees, and 2,770 county (city, district, banner) committees.
Party organizations in city streets, towns, communities (neighborhood committees) and administrative villages. Party organizations have been established in 9,034 city streets, 29,649 towns, 114,065 communities (neighborhood committees), and 491,129 administrative villages across the country, with a coverage rate of more than 99.9%.
Party organizations of government agencies, institutions, enterprises and social organizations. There are 745,000 grassroots party organizations in government agencies, 949,000 grassroots party organizations in public institutions, 1.532 million grassroots party organizations in enterprises, and 171,000 grassroots party organizations in social organizations across the country.
