On June 20, Kazakhstan Energy Minister Borat Akchurakov explained the suspension of operation of some buoys of the Caspian Sea oil pipeline.

Akchulakov pointed out that since 50 mines left over from the Patriotic War period were found in the waters of the Caspian Sea oil pipeline, work on clearing seabed mines will be carried out in the near future.

"These mines have been around since the time of the war, and there are quite a lot of them," Akchulakov said.

According to Akchulakov, this work will last 10 days - from June 15 to 25. At the same time, the No. 3 buoy will continue to work and the remaining two are suspended, but it will not affect oil exports.

Akchulakov also reminded that Kashagan Field will also suspend work from June 1 to July 15 to carry out scheduled maintenance work.

"The workload of one buoy accounts for 70% of the total oil transportation. Therefore, if there is no oil supply from the Kashagan field, the amount of oil entering the Caspian Sea oil pipeline will be enough with just one buoy," Akchulakov promised explain.

On June 15, the Caspian Sea Pipeline Alliance Press Service reported that Buoy-1 and Buoy-2 will be suspended from work, and Buoy-3 is operating normally, which is sufficient to meet oil transportation requests. During this period, the Ministry of Emergencies of the Russian Federation will carry out the search and clearance of mines.

According to earlier reports, on March 20, a storm in the Caspian Sea damaged a terminal device at the terminal of the Caspian Sea oil pipeline, causing two of the three pontoons used to transport oil to need repairs. The oil transportation work through the pipeline was therefore pause.
