According to Cambodian media, at 4 am on September 4, 48 Cambodian laborers were arrested by Thai police on suspicion of smuggling into Thailand.
It is understood that the above 48 Cambodian laborers smuggled into Thailand from farmland near the gate of Pailin Province, preparing to go to Chanthaburi Province to work as longan pickers.
At that time, the snake head charged 5,000 baht (about 154 U.S. dollars) per person. Unexpectedly, after the snake head took everyone to Thailand, he immediately fled. Soon, these people were discovered and arrested by the Thai police.
The Thai police revealed that none of the aforementioned 48 Cambodian workers have passports. Therefore, the Thai government decided to take samples and test them before arranging to be sent back to Pailin Province, Cambodia for isolation.
In response to this, the Cambodian Border Guard said that currently, the Cambodian side has not received any relevant information. However, the Cambodian side will contact Thailand and bring the aforementioned 48 workers back to Cambodia.
