Four years later, standing on the stage of "Summer of the Band 2", Wu Tiao people will think of a wet afternoon on the second floor of the Lujiang Rehearsal Room in Guangzhou in 2016: a rehearsal room partition with a monthly rent of 1,000 yuan and a poor sound insulation. It seems that a gust of wind will collapse. As long as the newly established heavy band next door started to rehearse, Ren Ke and A Mao could only light a cigarette to rest.

"We are the band next door". When we saw HyperSlash Super Slash, Le Xia had just aired the first episode. Wuzhaoren and Super Slash are becoming popular search terms. The two bands used fresh terms such as "plastic flavor" and "home core" to collide with the public's traditional perception of band style.

The ceiling here will leak and the roof will collapse. Once there was a strong wind, something came down to smash the roof of the hospital next to him, and all the equipment was soaked in water. The whole room was a mudslide when the door was opened. But "threatening personal safety is a small matter, nothing is more terrible than being poor", the three of them almost spoke in unison. After the demolition of the Lujiang rehearsal room, Super Zhan had to spend more money to rent another fake soundproofing rehearsal room.

In 2008, the band left and right toured to Guangzhou. On the night of the performance at Xiwo Bar, the folder of super guitarists who had just been in college and didn't know how to play guitar was standing under the small stage. That night, the performance on stage refreshed his understanding of heavy music: a refreshing typhoon, "I have never seen anyone play the piano like this." After the folder, I kept recommending the band to my junior and junior brothers of Guangdong University of Technology, including the lead singer Sour and Marshal Bass who entered the school a few years later.

This year is also the fourth year of the formation of the bands on the left and right. Standing on the performance stage in Guangzhou, the atmosphere here also impressed them. The lead singer Punk (Zhang Guwei) recalled: The Guangzhou bands were too fierce at that time, and the people playing on the scene were also very crazy. I still remember that someone was kicked from the air when he was diving, and he fell down on his face and continued to be impatient.

In 2016, when Super Zhan was newly established, the incident of "Caodong has no party Livehouse performances hard to get tickets" seemed to have opened the valve of the Taiwan group going north. More and more young people were attracted by the southern band's independent pop, self-appreciation, and urban psychedelic music styles. Some industry insiders called it "Southern Wave". So in Lexia in 2020, we saw that compared to the fierce and direct heavy band, the chair band that sounded the least "aggressive" in the show became a soft blade, rushing into Lexia's top 10 with a free and lazy and warm style.

Taiwan bands rarely appear on the mainland variety show stage. For the chair band with a restrained personality, it is a process of creating surprises for music fans in anxiety. For band culture, this is the mainstream landing of the southern wave.

Whether it is the old Paoer band, the Mesozoic band, the new generation band, whether it is Taiwan, Guangzhou or Beijing, whether it is the heavy resurgence of Warehouse or the arrival of the southern wave, bands that have grown from different soils are involved in a competitive performance system by such an entertainment-related variety show, and accept aesthetic judgments from the public, music critics, and various dimensions.

County rock, home core, metal music, Dream pop, reunites in the camera

County rock, dialect folk songs. Behind the unique music style, the keywords of Wujie people in Lexia seem to be: Drama. The orange plastic bag blown by the wind rose and fell three times with the curtain of the stage. What remains unchanged is that Renke and Amao are wearing red plastic slippers, one is like the tender gangster brother who walked out of Bi Gan's movie, and the other is putting down the huge accordion and moving his hands never stops. For Wu Tiaoren, it seems that the mission of conveying the value of his own music is completed through repeated resurrection and elimination.

For the "home-core" style super kill, their keywords seem to be "correcting the name", which is a challenge to the integration of audience acceptance and circles. Their debut caused a wave of turmoil. The roaring singing style of "Monopoly" and the stage expression of the middle style often make the public music fans at the performance particularly excited. For a heavy band, Super Slash has obtained an unexpectedly high score. Also after the show was broadcast, I received polarized comments.

In order to make the public faster to get to the super-cut style, the folder proposed the concept of "home core". The band grew rapidly in the competitions on the show, from the first episode to the adaptation competition, and then to the cooperation competition. The lead singer introduced that at present, some band seniors in Guangzhou will give them the hope of "bringing glory to Guangzhou", and music fans will also feel happy: this kind of music has been brought to such a popular platform for the first time.

For chair bands, the keywords may be "challenge". is the adaptation process of the restrained trio on the mainland platform, and on the other hand, the epidemic has made it difficult for Taiwanese orchestras to take the mainland stage. After contacting the director's group at a music festival last year, Chair Orchestra has been preparing for Lexia this year. During the outbreak of the epidemic, the US-Australia tour in March finally shrank into a live station roadshow in the United States. They came to Beijing on May 16 and were isolated for 21 days. They worked in the hotel room to do exercise, write songs, prepare for the new album, and perform song rehearsals for the Lexia program until the first recording of the program in June.

The first performance of the Chair Orchestra was their popular song "Rollin' on". The stage was like the colored glass windows in a church. The three people sprinkled dense yellow beams on their heads. Like their musical style, it was a dessert that was melted into the mouth. The keyword of the band around

may be "sighting" . As a 15-year-old heavy band, they obviously have more say in such a band variety show for the mass market.

As a frequent visitor to the few band variety shows in China, the left and right band participated in two band programs, "Super Band" and "Chinese Band" in 2018. These are two recorded programs that have not caused too much market feedback. After the first season of Lexia was broadcast, many friends came to ask why the left and right bands did not play Lexia, including guitarist Lou Xinlei's childhood in the United States. This made him feel that at the level of cognitive scope, "Summer of the Band" suddenly distanced itself from the previous program.

In the past, in order to highlight respect and fairness, domestic band variety shows often did not judge bands according to dimensions and presented them in a recorded manner. , Lexia's stage is in the nature of the competition. In addition to the conventional work display, it highlights the character of the band and uses works to express ideas. It can interpret the charm of a band from various dimensions, and competes for the strongest band with the dimensions of audience preferences. This competitive nature naturally triggers discussions on public issues. This can be seen in the rapid elimination efficiency of the second season's program.

Rock center, town culture, and the southern wave, starting from a city,

From Hong Kong and Taiwan Golden Songs in the 1980s, to European and American rock music circulating in the mainland through 1990s, to the new wave born after various cultures and evolution, domestic rock bands established in the 1990s and 2000s were influenced by these music cultures to varying degrees. As a culture with certain regional attributes, rock music has developed different appearances in different cities.

For the left and right bands established in 2005, the band enlightenment of the members can be regarded as a cultural epitome of domestic rock music in the 1980s and 1990s. In the 1990s, the Beyond and the Young and Dangerous series were music that sounded particularly rock-speaking in the south, and the left and right band lead singers Punk, guitar Zheng Shiwei, and Lou Xinlei were all influenced by it.

In 2000, he went to junior high school in Beijing and heard "Born Army" from Beyond - the general term for several punk bands active in the Howling Club of Wudaokou and Happy Paradise Livehouse in Beijing in the late 1990s. Listen to more powerful music such as Twisted Machine, Yasha, and AK.The real band was in 2003. Punk formed the first band, Blast Doll in Shenzhen. This band was made up of two bands, Bladder Blast and Dying Dolls, and was greatly influenced by Korn. Punk still remembers that at that time, universities and bars in Shenzhen were relatively supportive of the band and were willing to take out the weekend afternoons to give the band a free venue.

Chen Junhong, a drummer who grew up in Jilin, Northeast China, did not have such good luck. In the fifth and sixth grades, I listened to Black Panther, Dou Wei, and Tang Dynasty bands. Once Chen Junhong went crazy after watching the scene. In 1999, Chen Junhong went to Changchun to learn drumming, and later formed a band called the collapse of the system, becoming the earliest heavy band in Changchun. At that time, Changchun had no rock atmosphere and could be called a rock desert. He had to spend money on his own to make a performance, and there were not many people. It was rare to have a performance opportunity. The performance was usually in the second half of the nightclub at the end of the bar, or in the afternoon before the nightclub, with dozens of audiences in the audience, most of them were college students. Later, some well-known industrial metal bands such as Shaman bands were born around 2005.

Shandong Zibo, which is also a heavy industrial city, is the hometown of guitar Lou Xinlei. Lou Xinlei recalled that at that time, most Zibo bands played heavy metal, and even the five districts and three counties were divided into different music styles, including extreme death metal and whip metal. There are also many musicians such as Xie Tianxiao, and they "produce" bassists, including Wang Lei, bassist No. 43 Baojia Street bassist, Long Shindo lead singer bass Guojian, escape plan bassist Xiaogang, tongue band bass Xiaofei and other seniors.

001. In 2002, the county where Lou Xinlei was located, a child who had guitars from elementary school to junior high school got started with "The Circulating Sun" and "Why Did I Die Last Night". A finger-touching teacher taught that children sitting in small horses and laughing together, and the scene was particularly spectacular.

Lou Xinlei has liked Rock star, Guitar hero since he was a child, and in his first grade in junior high school, at Beyond's 1993 concert, Huang Guanzhong played the guitar solo of "Really Love You" and brought shock to Lou Xinlei. Later, in a music collection by his friend, Lou Xinlei came into contact with old cannon bands such as Metallica, ACDC, Guns N' Roses, Cinderella, etc., and he began to realize that this kind of music was blooming.

Also deeply infected by Metallica is Zheng Shiwei, another guitar in the left and right band. The distorted tone full of metal texture opened Zheng Shiwei's eyes, "How can music be done like this." In 2003, Zheng Shiwei met Punk in Shenzhen and the two set out to play a band in Beijing.

htmlIn the early 1900s, the band atmosphere in Guangzhou and Hong Kong was particularly dry, and a group of representative heavy bands were born, such as Lychee King, Co2, Blowing Sugar, Liudao Mother, and insecticidal water. However, Shenzhen is a rock desert, and most bands play copy, pop, and rock music only accounts for a small proportion.

The nuclear team founded in Guangzhou in 2001, the drummer who killed insects was now helping to beat the drums on the Lexia stage. In fact, in the early days of Super Sword's establishment, Guangzhou's music predecessors provided a lot of help to new bands, including borrowing rehearsal rooms, inviting them to perform together, etc. Super Sword also accumulates music fans in performances one by one. When it is dense, the band can have one performance in almost a week.

In Guangzhou, where there are many universities, a strong atmosphere and rapid and violent contact with fresh culture, this atmosphere has provided great help to new bands. According to Wang Shunhe, the lead singer of the Guangzhou Japanese rock band RhodoNite, the Guangzhou Youth Music League organizes many performances, and they are large-scale livehouses and music festivals. These opportunities have greatly helped young people like themselves.

The music of the band is mostly active in two places: the rehearsal room and the tour site. Every city with music and culture accumulation has a corresponding cultural landmark. For the core capital Guangzhou, this landmark is a rehearsal room. The Lujiang rehearsal room is transformed from a food stall on the second floor of Lujiang Commercial Center. It has seven or eight compartments, opposite is the city village, nearby are Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and Sun Yat-sen University, and downstairs are the trade city, fruit shop and Super Zhan’s favorite Hanjiang Food Trading Store.Walking here has left unforgettable memories for many Guangzhou bands such as Wuzhao Ren, Super Sword and Mercadel. Before the Lujiang rehearsal room, a more historical landmark was the old band village.

. In terms of the preference ranking of tour cities, in the visits of entertainment unicorns to several bands, most musicians said that one of the favorite cities on tour is Guangzhou. Some unpopular cities in the public perception seem to have natural appeal, such as voting ranking second in Nanning.

The back door of Nanning Arts Academy where Mr. Turtle band was born was once a gathering place for music and cultural venues such as Livehouses and record stores, and a well-known gathering place for art and culture.

In 2018, Super Sword launched its first foreign-provincial tour with its works. In Xi'an, the capital of rock, the number of tickets sold before the opening was still in single digits. When it came to Nanning, it almost surged. "The audience on the scene seemed to know how to play our works, and everyone easily accepted our music." The lead singer introduced that it was very interactive. Whether it was support, dance or pogo, music fans were immersed in this atmosphere. Super Sword felt particularly good about Nanning HOPE LIVE.

The left and right bands that have been focusing on performances in other places in recent years also have the same feeling. The first city that emerged in Lou Xinlei's mind was Nanning. In addition to delicious seafood, the eyes of local music fans in seem to tell you: they are connected to your heart. The band agent Buzzed around and also said that when choosing a tour city, there will be tacit understanding. When doing a band and choosing a city tour, you need to choose these places, such as Xi'an, Chengdu, Wuhan, and Chongqing.

For the Chair Orchestra, which met Guitar Club in 2010, in order to "learn a souvenir for themselves", they released their first album "Cheers! Land" after graduating from college in 2016, and were shortlisted for the "Best Newcomer (Group) Award", "Best Folk Album" and "Best Folk Album" Award. In 2018, the Chair Orchestra collaborated with music producer Huang Rongyi to create the second album "Lovely Sunday Levli Sundae", and Huang Rongyi later became their agent.

976, Wu Bai & chinablue, Mayday, Taiwan’s band culture continues to move forward on the timeline. According to Yong Jing, Taiwan’s heavy culture is basically concentrated in Taichung, and the most mainstream band culture is concentrated in Taipei, but there is no obvious difference overall. Last year, Chair Orchestra toured 15 cities in the mainland. According to Yong Jing, when they came to the mainland, the audience of Chair Orchestra was even more enthusiastic than in Taiwan. Zhongying also said that there are quite a gap in the atmospheres of different cities. For example, in Chengdu, the music fans in the audience were so enthusiastic that "I can't hear my voice." The atmosphere in Shanghai and Taipei is similar, and everyone will concentrate on listening to music.

Internet sense, controversy, and endorsement. "Passing by" from the mainstream market

Last year, program producer Mou Di shared a set of data in the planning process of the first season of the program with entertainment unicorns: there are about 2,000 bands with names in China; there are about 1,000 network information such as music and videos; and there are about 300 bands entering the "Summer of the Band" program library; after further screening, there are 31 bands in the first season.

Compared with the first season of the show last year, the show has quality and sound, and the second season naturally attracted more excellent bands. But for the music market, compared to providing bands with a good exposure platform, the more important significance is to bring industry issues and trigger public discussion.

Behind this, on the one hand, is the diversity of Lexia's influence and band attributes attracting more non-circle audiences, forming a two-way feeding between the mainstream circle and the band circle. On the other hand, the program has made more excellent bands begin to be seen and pushed their band to "pass by" in the mainstream market.

From "Daily Lens" to "Suggestions to Open the Spot", they are all commonly used bgm for celebrity vlogs. Before Chair Orchestra came to Lexia, many listeners had only heard their music. In the contemporary Internet context, Chair Orchestra is a typical example of a celebrity who is not popular. After coming to the show, many listeners would suddenly realize that the music they had been listening to was from a band called Chairs.

After the last episode was broadcast, Chair Orchestra and his partner Liu Wei performed "Tonight we'll be fine", creating the "closeest to the hot search" opportunity for Chair Orchestra. Music critic Ding Taisheng posted a blog directly to Liu Wei as a "variety show gangster", which then triggered a series of chain reactions.

In fact, Lexia's platform does provide the industry with a lot of debate materials on mass market and independent music, especially around the music critic level, about the confrontation between mass aesthetics and professional aesthetics, such as the fierce discussions caused by the daydream syndrome and the Forgotten Club, which have participated in talent shows and have a certain popularity. The program of

is still continuing. In the adaptation competition tonight, the top 10 bands will work together in pairs. The Chair Band will bring the adapted version of "The Light Chaser" with Dada Band, and the Super General and the HAYA Band will bring the "Waiting for a Millennium" with the Millennium. The left and right bands, who had left the stage, embarked on the tour according to the original trajectory, firmly using the number of people in "one football team" to restore the music scene to a high level.

It can feel that the program wants to arouse more discussion in the public circle, so Internet hot songs such as "Love Sell", "Light Chaser", and "Youth" have appeared on the adaptation stage of the program one after another.

Lexia tear opens the gap between the popular circle and band culture, and also changes the growth trajectory of some bands. Whether in mainland China two years ago or in Taiwan today, the culture of consumer bands has always been limited to the music fans circle, and there is no opportunity to "break the circle". After the show was broadcast, the bands also ushered in significant changes. Wu Tiao people who frequently logged in various live broadcast rooms were selected as the spokesperson for the program sponsor, and finally no longer the chair band that "sings are popular but not popular" and the left and right band that subverted the label of metal tough guys in the eyes of the public. Programs like

are becoming a way of communication between mainstream aesthetics and independent music. Whether it is forcing the band to accelerate the desire to ignite the creative desire like a trainee, or accepting new challenges of "fancy cooperation", or the frequent controversies of music critics will often become the industry's "project". Lexia not only catalyzes the aesthetic guidance of domestic music listeners in band-type music, but also opens the gap in discussion with the mass market.

The band’s front waves stimulate the back waves, the back waves lead new winds, creating new waves, there are always new waves rolling, and younger musicians are constantly setting off new waves.
