The great director Li Hanxiang (April 18, 1926-December 17, 1996), studied under the painter Xu Beihong, and later joined the film company and eventually became a famous director. He led the trend of Hong Kong and Taiwan Huangmei tune films in the 1950s and 1960s with works such as "Diao Chan", "The Beauty of the Mountain", and " Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai ", and also cultivated many new actors and directors for the rise of Taiwanese films. In the 1980s, Li Hanxiang came to the mainland and filmed "Hanmingyuan " and "Direction from the Curtain", becoming the first director to be allowed to enter the Forbidden City to film on-site.

, released in 1977, is not a good dream of Red Mansions, which is not a good deal in Li Hanxiang's works, but he, deeply influenced by Chinese classical literature, brought this classic work to the screen, changing the rough and clumsy adaptation of Red Mansions that was popular in Hong Kong and Taiwan at that time. At the beginning of filming, Li Hanxiang temporarily exchanged the roles of Brigitte Lin and Zhang Aijia , which also discovered Lin 's potential for cross-dressing. Before "The Golden Martial Arts Dream of Red Mansions ", Li Hanxiang had two opportunities to adapt "The Dream of Red Mansions", but he refused them both. why is that?

The just-passed 2016 is the 90th anniversary of Li Hanxiang's birth and the 20th anniversary of his death. His memoir "Thirty Years of Details" was published in the mainland for the first time by Houlang Publishing Company. In the book, he talks about it in detail, including all kinds of film anecdotes and folk culture. There are also detailed descriptions about the adaptation of the movie "Dream of Red Mansions", and The Paper has obtained authorization to extract its related parts.

Li Hanxiang

The more I watch the performance of "Dream of Red Mansions"

In fact, before I filmed "The Golden Marriage of Brighton" by Brigitte Lin and Sylvia Chang, I had two opportunities to direct "Dream of Red Mansions", and I asked me to turn it off. The first time was when the Shanghai Yue Opera Troupe went to Hong Kong to perform. The performances were mainly composed of "Dream of Red Mansions" by Xu Yulan and Wang Wenjuan and "Dream of Red Mansions" by , and "Dear of Red Mansions" by Jin Caifeng and "Battle of Jade Hairpin" by Lu Ruiying (i.e. "Golden Branches and Jade Leaves" by . The performances were quite sensational. I am a standard drama fan. Except for not being able to understand the Cantonese opera of Guangdong dramas, I am a must-have for every performance of any other drama and folk art. Shaoxing Opera and Pingtan were not very good at first, but there was a wife from Hangzhou who was a translator. After listening to it a few times, she understood it all. When I watched "Dream of Red Mansions", I became more and more enjoyable to the performances of Xu Yulan and Wang Wenjuan, and the more I listened to the singing style, the more fascinated it. I was a little unacceptable to Xu Yulan's appearance, but I always felt that Baoyu had gained weight and was too old. However, after a three-hit jade performance, I forgot all these shortcomings. I thought she was the Jia Baoyu written by Cao Xueqin. Her singing melody is beautiful, sometimes strong and upright, sometimes gentle and gentle; when she cried, she said sad and sad, "My sister Lin is late!" and she was touching and touching. The deep and clear section of the Qing board below was sang in a leisurely manner, like a pearl falling from the silver plate, with significant pauses and clear light and darkness. Under the stage, Puqing was so quiet that even the breathing of the audience next to him could be heard.

1962's Yue Opera movie "Dream of Red Mansions", starring Xu Yulan and Wang Wenjuan, and directed by Cen Fan.

Wang Wenjuan's Daiyu burning manuscript, with elegant and mellow singing style and mellow charm. The concept of Daiyu's personality is rigorous in logic and delicate and accurate in performance, which can be said to be perfect. Seeing her wholeheartedly devoted herself to the performance of the role, the stage was Xiaoxiang Pavilion.

Daiyu cried faintly when burying flowers and burning manuscripts. Zijuan After Daiyu's "girl" and Baoyu's "Miss Lin" crying when she cried, they all shouted loudly. They could perform in a timely and appropriate manner.

Daiyu burys flowers.

The crying in life comes from sorrow and is difficult to suppress. Naturally, I burst into tears with tears. I never thought about whether the posture, music, or whether it is beautiful or not. However, the crying on the stage was performed by a skill. Not only should we cry really, but we should cry beautifully, and we should also sing while crying. When singing, we should be clear in yin and yang, and we should hear the slight and heavy. When we are excited, it is like a river flowing thousands of miles away, but the mountains turn around. When we are anxious, it is urgent, and when we are slow, it is slow. Sometimes the tone can enter the clouds, sometimes it is low and it is difficult to be high, but the tone is low, and sometimes it is even harder to sing. Xu Yulan cried when she said, "Now is the word "return" in "I have been calling for thousands of times to return" and Wang Wenjuan's "I have been a companion in the boudoir with poetry and books all my life" when she burned the manuscript. One high and one low, the ups and downs of the two of them were just right, and it was not hot or not.

Daiyu returned to heaven, heard joy, the sound of gongs and drums, and in a daze, it seemed as if she saw Baoyu coming, saying, "Baoyu... Hello..." Then she staggered and fell to the ground. The following of "Hello" may be endless, but now the omission is not confusing. Just as Chinese painting emphasizes the principles of "hiding" and "exposing". The so-called "Those who are good at hiding will not reveal themselves before beginning, and those who are good at hiding will not hide themselves before beginning." Omitting means to express a higher artistic realm. "A vertical stroke is three inches, a thousand feet high, a horizontal stroke of ink, a hundred miles away, a hundred miles away", this aftertaste is endless!

After watching the show, I couldn't sleep all night. I really hope to bring this show to the screen. At that time, I had just filmed "Diao Chan" and "The Beauty of the Country", and the results were not satisfactory, especially "The Beauty of the Country", which broke the box office record of national films in history. At that time, the new movie of the Xinhua theater was rebuilt, and the box office dragon actually walked around the back of the Shaw Brothers Building from Nathan Road and surrounded it in a whole circle. It was a phenomenon that had never happened before Xinhua was demolished. So many people are quite confident in my filming costume dramas, but they never thought that Mr. Zhu Shilin, the director of Phoenix Company, called me and said that he was treating me to dinner with Cuiying. He also knew that I had watched the Yue Opera "Dream of the Red Chamber" several times, so he also made an appointment with Xu Yulan and Wang Wenjuan!

never participated in the filming of "Dream of Red Mansions"

After breaking up with Mr. Zhu Shilin at Yonghua Company, he has never met for many years because of his left-right relationship. Cuiying and I discussed it. She thought that maybe Mr. Zhu wanted to know my impressions on "Dream of Red Mansions" (Yue Opera), but it was just that everyone exchanged opinions on the arts, and there would be no political component. Especially Mr. Zhu is an old senior, but he is disrespectful, so we went to the appointment as scheduled.

Unfortunately, Xu Yulan failed to come with Wang Wenjuan that day because of a cold, but Cuiying thought that she should be content to see Lin Meimei in the audience. She did not put on makeup at all. She was used to seeing the Hong Kong ladies' eyebrows, temples, blue eyes, and red lips. Instead, she felt that she was particularly elegant and pleasant. Wang Wenjuan has never spoken very much, but I have never been able to speak out and have a strong desire to express myself. Mr. Zhu Shilin also expressed some opinions on the Yue Opera Troupe at the right time. He never expected that Mr. Zhu suddenly asked me: "Are you interested in bringing "Dream of Red Mansions" to the screen and how about a stage art film?" I was really stunned at first glance, and I didn't know how to answer for a long time. Although we know that most of the copyrights of the films produced by Phoenix Company at that time were issued by Shaw Brothers, we have never had any public cooperation in production. Although "Dream of Red Mansions" is a classic Chinese literary masterpiece and has no political component, Phoenix is finally a left-wing company. If it cooperates, not only will there be problems with the release of Taiwan, but it will even cause other unnecessary troubles.

Maybe Mr. Zhu understood the reason why I didn’t speak for a long time, and he came up with a compromise, saying that it could be co-directed by Hu Xiaofeng and I, and I was just doing behind-the-scenes planning work. Despite this, I still have to obtain Mr. Six’s consent in advance due to Shaw Brothers’ contractual relationship, and Mr. Zhu Shilin believes that it is appropriate.

Wang Wenjuan left first after the meal, leaving us and our wife behind, and talked to Mr. Zhu about the grand occasion of the Yue Opera Troupe in Hong Kong, and then talked about the achievements of Xu Yulan and Wang Wenjuan on the stage.I suddenly thought that when I was having a meal, I found that Wang Wenjuan seemed to have two gold teeth inlaid. On the stage, the audience was far away and could not see clearly, but the close-ups on the screen would definitely be clearly visible. Lin Daiyu is not very good at . Mr. Zhu thought this was easy to deal with and at most reinstalled. After I talked about this conversation with Mr. Shaw , he didn't say anything, but just shook his head with a smile. Therefore, although I also attended the preliminary seminar on filming "Dream of Red Mansions" held by Liao Yiyuan, Hu Xiaofeng and Han Xiongfei at Gaohua Restaurant on Puqing Tower, I have never participated in the work before and behind the scenes of the red film.

Afterwards, I learned that "Dream of Red Mansions" was filmed in Qingshuiwan Studio for more than a month. Because Xu and Wang were dissatisfied with the sets, clothing, etc., they stopped. After returning to Shanghai, they filmed again. The director also changed to the deputy director of "The Secret History of the Qing Palace".

This is the sample of Jinhan in Taiwan saying it was plagiarism. Of course he didn't know the inside story of this matter, because at that time, Lingbo was still in the Xiamen drama under the name of Xiaojuan. And Jinhan has not participated in the film industry yet.

The tree attracts wind, and they took advantage of the opportunity to enter

When Shaw Brothers was preparing to film "Dream of Red Mansions", his behavior was very mysterious, probably because of the production director at that time. I went to Imatsu District, Kyoto, Japan. Before filming three films: " Yang Guifei ", "Wang Zhaojun" and " Wu Zetian ", I heard that Yuan Qiufeng was going to shoot a costume song called "Autumn Phoenix". He did not threaten to film "Dream of Red Mansions". It was not until our outdoor team set off that he began to sing and set the scene. I saw newspapers sent from my home in Japan, and I learned that Ledi plays Lin Daiyu, Ren Jie plays Jia Baoyu, and behind the scenes sing Jingting and Xiaojuan from Xiamen films.

Shaw's first remake of "Dream of Red Mansions", with Ledi playing Lin Daiyu and Ren Jie playing Jia Baoyu.

Cao Xueqin, the author of "Dream of Red Mansions", has not been prosecuted for copyright from the production company that brought it to the screen for nearly two hundred years, nor has any company or anyone obtained patents, so anyone can adapt it into a movie. Although I had proposed to the company the plan to shoot "Dream of Red Mansions", the producer can justify me that other films have not yet ended and have been handed over to other directors for filming. Why is it so sneaky? It's really puzzling!

I didn’t understand until I left Shaw Brothers. It turned out that this was the first trick that someone had planned for a long-term plan. Because at that time, I was trusted by my boss and loved by my fans. I really wanted to be as windy as I could. Later, almost all Shaw's studio schedules were planned by me (the schedule so far is still the one I designed). Four sets of Huangmei Tu films (Wang Yueting's "Hidden the West Chamber" by Wang Yueting, Gao Li's "The Phoenix Returns to the Nest", He Menghua's "Yang Naiwu and Xiao Baicai", and Hu Jinquan's "Yu Tangchun" by ) are all in the name of my co-director. The big tree attracts wind, so there was a small circle of people who were working hard in the dark and waiting for an opportunity to move. So I said that the filming of "Dream of Red Mansions" was their first move to take advantage of the opportunity and attack the world.

I have always been in the same way as others, and I have always been clear about my relationships. I have absolutely no words in my heart, I speak frankly, and I have said one thing, but there is nothing to hide. Isn’t the straight line the shortest between two points? So why bother tortuous?

Wait for me to come back from Japan, Yuan Qiufeng's "Dream of Red Mansions" has begun filming. Brother Qiu Feng humbly went to the mountain view building on the Katori Road where I lived. I have been here a few times. I asked some questions to discuss my personal views on "Dream of Red Mansions". After the filming, I asked for a meeting to watch a pornographic film. It is said that Mr. Liu was not satisfied, so Brother Zhang Che put forward some suggestions on making up the show and re-filmed the scene of Jin Chuan jumping into the well (at that time, Zhang Che was just the screenwriter of Shaw Brothers and had not started working as a director yet).

There is no perfect "Dream of Red Mansions" movie

The second time I pushed the movie "Dream of Red Mansions" was when I returned to Hong Kong from Taiwan and rejoined Shaw Brothers. After signing the director contract for two years, Mr. Liu hoped that my first drama would be filmed "Dream of Red Mansions" in Huangmei's tune first. The reason was that Mr. Yue had prepared for a while and had some singing. The candidate to play Jia Baoyu also decided on Lingbo. He believed that Huangmei's tune was my specialty, and Lingbo was also an old partner. He was familiar with it and deserved to be twice the result with half the effort. But I don't think so.

The reason is that I used to shoot Huangmei movies. Before I finished singing, I had already had the idea of shooting. The singing that others collected was not applicable to me; and Ling Bo's age as Baoyu was a little older. I had just watched "The Legend of Love" at that time and was still deeply impressed. I said that if I filmed "Dream of Red Mansions", I also hoped to film it in "The Legend of Love", so the ages of Jia Baoyu and Lin Daiyu in the play should not be too far from the original work.

was released in 1978's " New Dream of Red Mansions ", directed by Jin Han, and played Jia Baoyu.

Many people's illusion that Daiyu was already a graceful girl when she entered the mansion. In fact, she was just a six-year-old child at that time. She was a childhood companion with Jia Baoyu who was mingling in the inner curtain. One was a girl from the aristocratic class, and the other was a young master of the "Poetry and Etiquette Clan". The movie is not like a stage play. Gai Zaitian appears in his 80s as he plays Wu Song in his 20s. Although his skills are so great, his every move is still full of vigor. However, through the close-ups on the screen, the audience will be shocked and they think that an old eunuch came from somewhere!

In the artistic realm of Cao Xueqin's fictional Grand View Garden, Jia Baoyu has lived in the contradictory environment between his father Jia Zheng and his grandmother since childhood. My father hopes that he will be raised as a loyal minister and filial son of the aristocratic class, and will make a name for himself and live up to the emperor's kindness and virtues; his grandmother blindly cared and loved him, and would never be happy if he didn't see him for a day! So he was kept in his inner chamber to escape Jia Zheng's discipline. So Baoyu grew up among a group of girls and a group of maids and mothers of sisters, which made him contempt and hate the so-called "secular men" and concluded that the feudal order completely violated the "male superiority and female inferiority": "The daughter is made of flesh and blood, and the men are made of mud." "The mountains, rivers, sun and moon are beautiful for her daughter, and the men are just dregs and turbid foam." This is of course a very vague idea that goes against class views.

Jia Baoyu's indignation and dissatisfaction led to his suspicion and denial of a series of feudal systems in his thoughts and actions: he hated the red tape of the aristocratic class, the deadly dogma of ethics, and the "official economy" that his father forced him to strive for; he called people who specialize in fame and fortune and hunting for profit and wealth as "lucky pests"; he had no intention of the imperial examination system that was the certain path for feudal literati to climb up. In the current terms, it should be an absolute rebellious personality.

So, I think playing Jia Baoyu in classical literature is completely different from the folk story of Liang Shanbo in the market. Liang Shanbo can be competent as long as he performs his honesty and sincere performance, while playing Jia Baoyu is much more complicated. Although actors are not necessarily experts in the Redology, as Mr. Zhou Ruchang said that he should study internal and external studies, at least he had to read "Dream of Red Mansions" and learn about the living environment of Jia Baoyu and Jia Baoyu. Of course, this is not a demanding one, but it is no longer something that ordinary actors can do.

Although there are hundreds of experts studying Redology at home and abroad, many so-called "internal learning" and "external learning" monographs have been published, and various versions have been added, and the inexplicable searches in the past are simply dazzling. Although there are some pretty good Pingtan and opera, there is still no perfect "Dream of Red Mansions" movie.

I don’t like the usual "Dream of Red Mansions" (general stage plays, as well as the form shot by Yuan Qiufeng and I), which is always tempted and filled with false Taoism (like Shaw Brothers' "Dream of Red Mansions") that describes the lewd life in the Grand View Garden (like Shaw Brothers' "Dream of Red Mansions" in Spring). I think we should use the way of truly being faithful to the original work to make a "Dream of Red Mansions" written by Cao Xueqin.

"The Red Chamber of Red Mansions" starring Leslie Cheung, the poster says "It is not suitable for children".

The reason why the film " Warlords " was changed to

Of course, the length of a film is limited, and can be divided into: "Taixu Illusion Realm", "Wang Xifeng's great trouble in Ningguo Mansion", "Red Building Eryou", " Qingwen ", " Shi Xiangyun ", "Miaoyu"...

No one has ever photographed Jia Baoyu's first test of the relationship between clouds and rain, and it is also because of the problem of "hiding" and "exposing" in the painting: "hiding" too much so that the throat cannot be in the stomach, and "exposing" too much is inevitably vulgar. No one has ever photographed Jia Baoyu's homosexual tendency. As for what Jiao Da said: "The one who climbs the ash, the one who raises the young brother-in-law raises the young brother-in-law." The true love scene is even more difficult to talk about. But how can we describe the despicable and chaotic relationship between men and women in the decayed moral outlook of the Rongning and Ning Mansions through the language of the cinematic?

Because Jia Baoyu and Lin Daiyu grew up in such an environment, they do not carefully and accurately describe the situation around them. How do they describe Baoyu's indignant and dissatisfied rebellious personality? How can I explain Daiyu's narrow, stingy, crying, and getting angry for no reason, making herself isolated and others disgusted?

All of this is because they can't stand the Rongning and Ning Mansions, under the cloak of a rich and rich life, are squandering and shameless. The flowing water in the Grand View Garden is dirty, so Daiyu had to arrange a Hanamaka for the fallen flowers, and told Zijuan before she died: "Ask them to send me back at least, my body is clean."

These words are the reasons why I changed to "The Great Warlord" to film "Dream of Red Mansions". Mr. Liu and Miss Fang Yihua, who participated in the discussion together, agreed with my opinion and would not film "Dream of Red Mansions" for the time being, but did not give up the intention to film "Dream of Red Mansions". This may be the reason why I later filmed two movies "Dream of Red Mansions" ("Golden and Jade Dream of Red Mansions" and "Spring of Red Mansions"). They are not the "Dream of Red Mansions" I imagined. If one is a fake donkey, the other is called a fake horse. As for the movie directed by Kim, I have never watched it, so I cannot criticize it. However, because my third contract expired, someone wanted to ask me to shoot an art film from the late Qing Dynasty. A Taiwanese company commissioned Mr. Jiang Shufan to discuss the copyright issue with me, so I learned the inside story of the two "Dream of Red Mansions" fighting against Taiwan in Taiwan.

Li Hanxiang finally directed "The Dream of Red Mansions", with Brigitte Lin playing Jia Baoyu and Sylvia Chang playing Lin Daiyu. At that time, both of them were just unknown juniors who participated in performance training classes.

Until now, there are still people who use "two Dreams of the Red Chambers, launching a war of verbal war in Taiwan", which is intended to explain "Dream of the Red Chambers" to Jin Han. The Shaw Company promotional draft led by Mr. Run Run Shaw has always only promoted himself. Even if other people's propaganda words point directly at the nose, he does not advocate tooth for tooth or eye for eye. This is especially true for "Dream of Red Mansions" starring Kim Director Ling. They not only confuse black and white in publicity, but also use all their strength to win sympathy votes. The advertisement notice requires Shaw Brothers' "Dream of Red Mansions" to join them and use various relationships to achieve this goal.

Mr. Jiang Shufan participated in the promotion of Director Jin's "Dream of Red Mansions". He told me that he had read Shaw Brothers' "Dream of Red Mansions" (using his original lyrics): "I was stunned after watching it, and I was stunned. I went back immediately and had a meeting, telling them not to talk about dramas, and I didn't even have a door. Hurry up and find a way!"

What is the so-called way to find a way? Is there still time to make up for the show? Of course I am thinking of some tricks, which bridge is the best? Taking advantage of the principle of "a mourning soldiers will win", he said that Li Hanxiang defeated the small with the big, and that Shao Brothers bullied the weak with the strong. The words and sentences of the advertisement have reached the level of a shrew scolding the streets. Everything will turn back when extremes. The unilateral curse is afraid of arousing the audience's disgust, so he made it happen that Li Hanxiang scolded Jin Han for "selling Shandong steamed buns", and then won the sympathy of Shandong people. He said some self-written and directed words, which made people feel the reason for "two sides' cursing".

Of course, there is no wind or waves. Once, while filming, Hu Jin, who had just returned from Taipei, told me that Liu Weibin said, "Why is Jin Han so stupid and overestimating his abilities? So many friends don't listen to it. You must throw a stone with your eggs, compare with Shaw Brothers, and Li Hanxiang. Have you ever seen a steamed bun seller suddenly published a book, right?" I didn't even dare to laugh at it, and I didn't agree. How did it reach other people's ears, and why did it become my words? I would ask the screenwriter or the lady!
