In recent days, Shaanxi has ushered in the strongest rainfall since the beginning of the flood season, with heavy to heavy rainfall in Hanzhong. On June 29th, and on July 2, the Defense Office of the Shimen Reservoir Management Bureau of Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province issued a dispatching order. The Shimen Reservoir opened the bottom hole and middle hole of the dam twice to organize emergency flood discharge to reduce the reservoir water level.
When the flood was discharged, the surging water flowed out of the gate, which was spectacular. The blue waves in front of the reservoir dam are vast, and the water and sky behind the dam are the same color, as beautiful as a painting. From a distance, the waves are like white smoke, with water mist and clouds lingering. When you look close, you are like a dragon coming out of a cave, like a tiger going down the mountain, roaring and swelling down, impacting the deep pool at the bottom of the valley, stirring up waves several feet high.
Hanzhong Shimen Reservoir was built in 1969 and was completed in 1975. The reservoir dam is in a bow shape and tightly crosses the two mountains, forming a large reservoir that mainly irrigation and takes into account power generation, flood control and fish farming. Its dam is located at the stone gate of the ancient plank road in the south entrance of Baogu, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province. It is a reinforced concrete hyperbolic arch dam with a center and a radius.
This time, the Shimen Reservoir flood discharge will be released to deal with the upcoming flood peaks, so as to ensure the safety of flood transportation in the urban area of Hanzhong City and the safety of flood seasons in the five counties and districts along the Hanjiang .
