Snapchat today announced the launch of a new AR experience, allowing users to "try on" and buy Halloween costumes directly within the app. Starting today, Snapchat users can try on and buy costumes of popular film and television characters such as Stranger Things, Harry Potter series, Squid Game, Minecraft, Ghostbusters, etc. The new AR experience was launched in partnership with clothing company Disguise.
Users can enter the Snapchat application to search for "Disguise costumes" (disguise costumes) to browse the Halloween costumes provided by Snap. Or users can search for a TV series or movie (such as "Squid Game" or "Stranger Things") through Lens Explorer to browse specific costumes.
Then, you need to take a few full-body photos of you wearing, and then Snap's AR technology will apply the clothing to your photos. You can then save the image or send it to your friends. If you like the outfit, you can buy it directly in the app.
The launch comes as Snap recently expanded its investment in AR shopping, launching a tool to convert retailers’ photos into 3D assets, and launching an AR stylish and virtual try-on in-app destination called “Dress Up.”
Over the past year, the company has made great strides in AR-powered e-commerce, putting its -based computer vision -based "scan" feature in a more prominent position in the "camera" section of the application and upgrading it with business capabilities.
