I have been to Taiwan Province, China 3 times, especially I have a special liking for Hualien . Because the most magnificent scenery in Taiwan Province is basically in Hualien, especially the Zhongheng Highway and Suhua Highway. The magnificent mountain and sea scenery along the way and the steep road are still unforgettable.
Zhongheng Highway Taroko
along Zhongheng Highway Taroko can be regarded as the most magnificent and shocking part of Taiwan Province . I originally thought that Taroko was a building like a temple because of its word "ge". Who would have thought that it was a mountain, and its name came from the pronunciation of the aboriginal people of the mountains, meaning "great mountains".
During my third self-driving tour around the island in Taiwan, I finally completed the Zhongheng Highway self-driving tour across the entire Taroko Canyon. Therefore, I have a new understanding of Taroko. feels that it is worthy of being the most magnificent mountain canyon in the entire Taiwan Island .
Back then, many road construction veterans were buried here forever. You can imagine how hard it was to build this road back then. Taroko Canyon is definitely the soul of Zhongheng Highway, and it is listed as one of the " Taiwan Eight Scenery ". Its cliffs, deep valleys, clear streams, and waterfalls in the sky all interpret the greatness of this road and the magic of nature.
Hualien has many earthquakes, because Taroko Canyon is granite and marble geological structure, and the structure is not stable. When there are earthquakes, typhoons, or heavy rain, rockfalls and landslides occur frequently. Therefore, the Taroko section of Zhongheng Highway is the most steepest, and it is a blessing to be lucky enough to complete the crossing of Zhongheng Highway.
Zhongheng Highway Taroko section, there are several walking sightseeing sections . Among them, Yanzikou is the most famous pedestrian area. It even diverted the traffic on Zhongheng Highway because of it, so that tourists can enjoy the magnificent canyon scenery of Yanzikou.
There are many bridges in the Taroko Canyon section of Zhongheng Highway. They become the link between crossing the canyon and connecting the Zhongheng Highway. The bridge here is also called "Strong Bridge" . Just because many bridges have been repeatedly damaged and repaired due to frequent geological disasters, each bridge has a tough story.
Suhua Highway Qingshui Cliff
In Taiwan Province, China, there is a Pacific coastal highway called "Death Highway", which is Suhua Highway . It starts precisely in Hualien, passing through the "Qingshui Cliff" and the "Northern Railway", which is the most magnificent mountain and sea scenery on Taiwan Island.
Before 2010, tourism teams could take tourist buses to walk on Suhua Highway, but due to the steep terrain of this road, natural disasters of occur frequently. A shocking accident occurred on October 21, 2010. The tourist bus was washed down by a mudslide and fell into the Pacific Ocean. Since then, this road has been called the "death road" by Taiwanese people .
Any tourists who come to Hualien to travel will not miss Qingshui Cliff Scenic Area . The "Qingshui Cliff" stretches for 21 kilometers, and I was fortunate to drive the Suhua Highway to appreciate its full picture. The clear water cliff is boundless, and the white waves are surging under the cliff, which is extremely steep. It is known as the second largest cliff in the world. The cliff penetrates directly into the Pacific Ocean at almost 90 degrees, and the cliff heights are all above 800 meters.
During the self-driving process of Suhua Highway, sometimes we would stop the car and look at the coast at the bottom of the cliff in a daze, always imagining how good it would be to get there and have a swim. In fact, it is not only difficult to reach the bottom of the cliff, but there are few broad beaches at the bottom of the cliff. They are basically rocky beaches. The huge cliff is basically straight and inserted into the seabed, which is breathtaking.
We drove on the Suhua Highway and experienced thrilling experiences such as skipping cliffs and watching the tides by the sea .The experience of overlooking the Pacific Ocean at the "Cliff of Clear Water" can be regarded as the most magnificent part of my memory of the Pacific Ocean. One day, I still look forward to going there again.
I think Taiwan Hualien is a place that you must go again in this life, and the Zhongheng Highway and the Suhua Highway are also must-do roads in this life. One day, will you also drive around the island in Taiwan? Will you also feel the charm of Zhongheng Highway and Suhua Highway?
