But the old saying goes well, if a person has no future, he will have immediate worries.
In January 2021, the sudden infection incident in Taoyuan Hospital in Taiwan, which was boasted by "model student of epidemic prevention", increased successively. Chen Shizhong, commander of Taiwan's "Epidemic Epidemic Command Center", held an emergency press conference and announced that the entire hospital in Taoyuan was classified as a high-risk area, and nearly 5,000 people were quarantined at home.

Unfortunately, Taiwan has not received a dose of vaccine so far. Chen Shizhong threatened to buy 30 million doses of the new crown vaccine as early as last year to achieve "advanced deployment", but now it is "zero progress".

The total number of vaccines purchased from AstraZeneca in the UK is about 10 million doses.
Just on January 21, a fire broke out for Indian vaccine manufacturers who are producing vaccines for AstraZeneca. Local media reported that the fire had killed at least 5 people, and the supply of vaccines was greatly reduced by 60%. Many people on the island are also worried that the vaccine supply will be affected.
And even if the AZ vaccine arrives in time, it will be the same as the 5 million doses of vaccines discussed from Moderna, the United States, from May to June this year.
Finally, the plan to order 5 million doses of vaccines from Germany BNT has basically declared bankruptcy.

As early as the end of last year, Taiwan was already in contact with BNT for vaccine purchases. On February 5 this year, after Germany proposed to purchase TSMC chips due to shortage of goods in the automobile industry, the Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs took the opportunity to ask Germany for assistance in obtaining the new crown vaccine, but the German side believed that the two could not be confused and did not mention this matter at all.
There is also news that the Taiwan authorities spent $50 million and wanted to buy vaccines directly from Germany, but were revoked. For a moment, various media started to mock the mockery mode, making fun of Taiwan's use of chips to exchange for the vaccine that Germany is already tight, which is no less than a fool.
However, this matter fell into the mouth of the Taiwanese authorities, but it changed. Chen Shizhong claimed that because of "China's intervention, the press release was ready, but it changed in the end."

In other words, due to political issues, Taiwan tried to speculate and bypassed the mainland's agency channels to buy vaccines directly with BNT. As a result, BNT respected the commercial agreement and asked Taiwan to buy directly with Fosun. The Taiwan authorities turned the blame to the mainland.

How long will it take for the self-developed vaccine on the island to be approved for marketing? It is still unknown. It will take more time and three phases of data to confirm the safety and effectiveness to be recognized by the international community.
Chen Shizhong announced a few days ago that he would purchase 5 million doses of Taiwanese-made vaccines, and the other 5 million doses were signed using the "open contract" method (that is, you can add them at any time). In fact, this is just a verbal commitment to a "quantity" and has not solved the problems of "quality" and "time".
It is not difficult for Taiwan to break the vaccine issue. It is feasible to purchase mainland vaccines, even if it is to purchase BNT vaccines from Fosun.
But the Taiwan authorities insist on politicizing the epidemic problem.
A few days ago, Ma Ying-jeou called on the authorities not to reject mainland vaccines, and was also labeled as "in contact with the mainland" by the green camp.
