Every summer, we use a whole book to explore a city. From Seoul to Bangkok, this year is the third year of the city special. We have come to Taipei - a city full of variety shows and idol dramas that make us cry and laugh, full of human feelings. Here, we met Guo Caijie and Wang Dalu . Two "new Taiwanese tourists" took us around the streets and swept the night market, and explored the day and night of this city in Taipei.

For a city, outsiders may be far less authentic and in-depth than the locals. So in this city special, we found 58 people living in Taipei to share their stories with the city.

First of all, we interviewed the editors who flew to Taipei to shoot this time. Some of them went to Taipei for the first time, while others were regular customers of "Taipei". As outsiders, let's first see what the city looks like in their eyes.

doesn't have it, it feels the same as when I first went there, warm and humane, a place that makes me happy easily.
What is the Taipei “people” that impressed you?
Guo Caijie. Be polite, kind, and will try your best to take care of everyone around you.
What do you think is the best food in Taipei?
Lin Dongfang beef noodles, I go to eat them every time, but now after the store is renovated, I actually queue up for more than an hour, and I feel like I’m eating “happy noodles”.

Did this trip to Taipei subvert your original impression of Taipei?
I originally thought that Taipei was a noisy place with many parties every day and rich nightlife. After arriving, I found that except for weekends, Taipei is usually very quiet and comfortable. The place where people have visited the most in the evening is actually a temple.
What is the Taipei “people” that impressed you?
The people in Taipei who impressed the most were the stall owners at our shooting venue (West China Street). Even if it was a small stall, they were really serious about the food. We ordered a cup of winter melon and rib soup, and the taste was simply back to our souls.
What do you think is the best food in Taipei?
The best food in Taipei is the small stall. The food like spicy pot that you want to get when you talk about Taipei is eaten in Shanghai. West Street is quite good. Each store has its own characteristics and is very local and authentic!

Eslite Bookstore is so famous. When I went to Taipei, I found that it has many unique independent bookstores - often a small door, and there is a unique world when you walk in. What is rare is that this is by no means formalism. There are endless people reading books, and this atmosphere is really beautiful.

Taipei Night Market is famous, but it depends on your opinion when visiting. I still love Taipei’s convenience store...Pearl milk tea flavored snow pie, let’s find out.

Did this trip to Taipei subvert your original impression of Taipei?
The biggest charm of Taipei is that it does not act hypocritical. During the day/night, downtown/residential area, before boarding/after arriving, it naturally transitions on either side, without a sense of conflict, and without the opposition between black and white.

A taxi driver loves chatting very much! He can change the topic at will without cue. You can automatically switch from host Wu Zongxian (say you just loaded it) and then automatically switch to how to eat instant noodles in the next second? ! He kept talking for a second... I was thinking that he was driving for a day and speaking so hard that he was very energetic. (PS. What’s amazing is that she and Marvel are not in the same taxi, but the direction of the story is surprisingly similar)
What do you think are the best food in Taipei?
Red Heart Guava is so delicious! There are any fruit stalls, and a whole pack of NT$60 is cut, which is so delicious!

What is the "people" in Taipei that impressed you?
Our assistant Jacky, who recently returned to Taiwan to serve in the army, always tells some interesting military stories on the spot (and thanks for helping us shoot the cover story this time), (but he is not from Taipei, it seems to be from cities around Taipei).
What do you think is the best food in Taipei?
The cake I ate between shooting is a roadside stall, which has vegetables and meat.

Did this trip to Taipei subvert your original impression of Taipei?
I used to think that Taipei was just a very prosperous city, but I didn’t expect that both the new and old Taipei were well preserved. It was a very humane city. Many traditional cultures were still preserved. For example, some night markets that only local people would go to, and they were still making very old-fashioned delicacies; some pharmacies were still using very traditional business methods. This blend of old and new makes the city particularly charming.
What is the "people" in Taipei that impressed you?
Photographer Guo Yanzhong went to Taipei with the photographer every day throughout the whole process. During the break, he talked a lot about what young people in Taipei and the mainland liked. After learning that they would climb over the wall if they watched iQiyi.
