Because I have recently used 4 disks and 6 disk nas hosts at home, I have always used a single disk H group host made by Baobo. 4. The 6-dish NAS was stunned by the fact that my friends came and went, and I felt sorry for my wallet. I hope my friends can also read this article. I can get a few hundred more dollars after I hang a certain fish~. Thinking about the hard product that didn’t have a running kit, I decided to use the entire 8-bar console for NAS, so I got this sharing.
This time I bought an 8-distance chassis with temperature control display, and by the way, the entire 10 Gigabit network card is too long. The hardware selection is too long. It is not a pitfall when installing the DSM7.0 system and setting the dual 10 Gigabit. There are also a lot of pictures left in the system installation settings. Therefore, the hardware selection and installation and the installation and debugging of the Synology system are divided into two articles to share with you. I hope that there will be better reference and help for friends who have recently chosen 8-distance tossing.

2. Purchase unboxing and pit avoidance experience for 8-pack chassis
Since it is an 8-pack chassis, the size must meet the matx motherboard. The more PCIe expansion positions, the better; the corresponding matx motherboard and accessories installed directly in the chassis will be restricted, so you choose a drawer-type bottom plate, which can be inserted directly into the box after the motherboard is installed OK; the rest is personal preferences for the appearance, so you start the selection journey. As a result, I bought the first chassis and came back:
This is a drawer installation. I didn't consider that much when shooting. There was only one PCIe expansion bit. The express delivery fee was too expensive at the time. In addition, it had no effect on using this myself, so I unboxed it.
The result pit comes.
Because the power supply is not reached, I first install the ASRock Matx motherboard on the bottom of the drawer to try installation. After fixing, you can see that the pull-out plate protective buckle of the box is blocked, and the USB wiring position cannot be plugged in! Based on the purpose of solving it yourself, I found an vise and bent the button a little, so that the bottom plate could be pushed in and then straightened it. It took some effort and it was OK, but the "double" came
finally snapped and installed. As shown in the red box arrow in the picture above, the height of the ATX 24pin power holder has exceeded. The data cable of the USB3.0 interface in front is too low. The data cable is directly blocked and pushed into the motherboard, which is at least 5cm away from the installation position. You can see that this is just an empty board. My power supply has not yet been plugged in with a 24pin power supply. If it is plugged in, it may touch the tail of the switch above! What to do with
? Again, in line with the purpose of doing it yourself, the front USB wiring port was removed.
After removing the USB data cable of the front panel, the motherboard can be installed normally to the end. After finding another Atx power cord, the power cord really touches the tail position of the switch of the chassis, which means that the memory can only be installed in the memory slot away from this side, and fortunately it can be used. Then install the sata data cable on the motherboard in advance, and the pitfall is coming!
The sata interface of the motherboard is lateral. When connecting the data cable, after all the straight data cables are plugged in, it will cause about 2cm to be pushed to the bottom of the motherboard and cannot be installed.
In fact, this sata data cable can use thin elbows of 90 degrees, note that it is the left bend. This prevents straight-headed data cable from touching the box.
Summary: When purchasing, the seller clearly told me that it supports the Matx motherboard. Generally, the ATX power holder of the Matx motherboard is located opposite the motherboard interface, that is, the front panel of the chassis. Most sata interfaces also have double-layer side openings that face outward, which can save the motherboard layout position and so on. Perhaps this chassis manufacturer has not done multiple Matx motherboard verifications during design.
After this installation, considering that the front panel USB is left empty after the position is removed, you can see the inside of the box. Every time you take it out or put it into the motherboard, you have to break the small block, and finally change the data cables. In addition, there is only one PCIe expansion position, so I communicate with the seller to return the goods decisively, and feedback the above abnormalities to the seller. It is recommended to raise the USB interface at the same level as the switch, etc. Of course, this involves the production of mold modification parts, etc., which is what the seller needs to deal with, as long as I agree to return the goods. Return the goods decisively.
or above is a problem that I encounter when using this case, because this case is easy to find on Tbao, and it also has sales. I don’t know if other friends have encountered this situation. The above only represents the results of an individual's objective installation and use.

4. Motherboard
are the 3pin power supply 2 fan power supplies behind the back panel. A problem was found when installing this later, which is that it will trigger an alarm. IC, temperature sensor, buzzer, , etc. on the display circuit board, I really didn't expect this before placing an order. I thought it would be just a temperature display at most. I will introduce the functions specifically when the display is turned on.The following is the main machine power switch cable, the old three: hard disk light cable, power light cable, PTN power switch cable, and no reset cable.

3. CPU
CPU occupies about 25% of the CPU when transcoding a G5400 video on . It is enough for me, but 5400 is already there. The performance of the 8100 U, these 4 cores and 4 threads is about 20% higher than that of the 5400 dual cores and 4 threads, and hardware transcoding is even more convenient. But this U has actually increased its price. Could it be that the 630-core graphics are really good for the price? 8th generation u is matched with 365M board, and then upgrade to 9th generation u, this will be released. The power consumption of 65W is a bit high, but the 8-speed meter is all fixed, so I don’t care about this electricity bill.
4. Motherboard
This time I chose the Matx-sized ASRock B365M pro4
I3 8100 CPU, so I have to use a B36X motherboard. Most of the B360 motherboards need to brush bios to go to the 9th generation U, so I ignored it; because the 8-bit NAS+10 Gigabit network card, the sata interface must be transferred from PCIe, so the PCIe X1's updating card does not consider the hard disk bottleneck of 10 Gigabit transmission. At least there must be PCIe X4 and X16, so I have been looking for several first, second and third-tier motherboard brands, and finally chose this ASRock B365M pro4. Because there are two PCIe3.0 X16 (the black one is actually only X4), it has met the use of 10G network card and sata adapter card. Another 6 Sata native interfaces, so you can buy a minimum number of Sata adapter cards, which will have at least 2 more Sata ports than ordinary motherboards.

6. PCIe to 5 port sata forwarding card
This is an uplink card with X4 interface, 5 ports. When this bottom customer service, whether H group is supported, two customer service clearly notified that it does not support H group use. However, the jm585 chip's adapter card has been used in the H group before, so I took one directly, and it turned out that it was not used normally without the driver. It's Acasis's, which is cheaper than LeCu, so there will be one more choice in the future.

Summary:
personal group NAS use, basically the chassis is the focus of selection, so there are many discussions on the chassis. Although the first 8-bath chassis can support Matx motherboard, there are pitfalls from installation to wiring, which should be due to the manufacturer's design problems. I just don't know if these have been improved now, but I dare not buy that chassis again.
The disadvantage of using 8-disk chassis with digital display is that it is too heavy. It is all equipped with 12.5KG and weighs 25 kilograms, which is full of security. The nominal number is 8+1 disk space. 3 2.5-inch hard disks can be attached to the top of the hard disk cage, and 1 can be attached to the other side. If you like to modify it, install 13 hard drives easily. 4 full-height PCIe locations, which are also convenient to expand, of course this is an advantage brought by sacrificing volume. The shortcoming is that the 4 fans are too loud. Replace the fan and the acceleration and deceleration line. But I found that the two fans behind the back panel cannot accelerate and decelerate? !
