The new crown pneumonia epidemic has spread, with 46,423 new local cases on the island today, an increase of 3.9% from 44,665 last Thursday, and another 61 imported cases and 57 deaths. The youngest death case is a 1-year-old boy with encephalitis and died 6 days after onset.
Taiwan Epidemic Command Center spokesperson Zhuang Renxiang said that due to abnormalities in the system yesterday, the number of cases reported today is underestimated, and the number of cases tomorrow is expected to increase. Today, the number of cases in Japan is mostly 9,281 new cases in a single day, followed by Taichung , 5,201 cases in Taipei, 4,963 cases in Taoyuan, 24,495 cases in Kaohsiung html, and 3,421 cases in Tainan. The number of cases of overseas migration has been moved from Thailand, the United Kingdom, Canada, Malaysia , Singapore , Philippines , and Vietnam respectively.
At the same time, the island also reported 211 new cases of moderate to severe illness today, including 150 moderate to 61 severe illnesses. Luo Yijun, deputy head of the Medical Strain Group, said that today's severe cases include a 3-year-old boy with multiple systemic inflammation syndrome (MIS-C). He has no chronic diseases and has not been vaccinated. He has had a fast screening of positive symptoms at the end of June but has not been reported and only has self-isolation. He has fever, vitality and appetite decreased on September 27. He went to the emergency room on September 29 and was examined for redness and swelling tonsils and streptococci.
After the boy was hospitalized, he was given antibiotics and other drugs, but he still had fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and swelling of the neck. It was suspected to be MIS-C. After receiving treatment with immunoglobulin , steroid and other drugs, the condition improved and he was discharged from the hospital on October 5.
Among the deaths today, the youngest was a 1-year-old boy without chronic disease and unvaccinated. Luo Yijun said that the boy had a fever and cough on September 24, and was diagnosed with a fast screening on September 27. On the evening of the 28th, he was sent to the emergency room for convulsions. The head was diagnosed with and cerebral edema , which was suspected of encephalitis.
The boy was transferred to the medical center on September 29, intubated and admitted to the intensive care unit, and treated with respirators and multiple drugs. Although he was actively treated, he still suffered complications such as shock and upper gastrointestinal bleeding . He passed away on September 30, only 6 days from onset to death.
