On October 6th local time, Golan Hansong, Permanent Secretary of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, announced that the 2021 Nobel Prize in Chemistry will be awarded to Benjamin List and David W.C. MacMillan, who won the award for their contribution to the "development of asymmetric organic catalysis". The total bonus is 10 million Swedish kroner (approximately RMB 7.32 million).

First, let’s talk about who Nobel is. Nobel's full name is Alfred Bernhard Nobel (Alfred Bernhard Nobel). Nobel was born on October 21, 1833 in Stockholm in Sweden . He has multiple identities, and chemist, engineer, military equipment manufacturer, inventor of "yellow explosives", playwright, poet, and novelist are all proof of his identity. He has 355 patented inventions in his life, opened about 100 companies and factories in 20 countries, and accumulated huge wealth. On the afternoon of December 10, 1896, he died in Mionid Church, San Limo, Italy at the age of 63.
Then, let’s talk about the settings and source of the Nobel Prize. In 1895, the 62-year-old Nobel made a will, using most of his property (about 9.2 million US dollars) as a fund, divided the annual income into 5 pieces, and established five types of prizes for Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature and Peace Prize (in 1969, added the Economics Prize for Nobel, Swedish Bank) to commend scholars who made the greatest contribution in the above fields that year. Since 1901, the bonus is awarded at 4:30 p.m. on December 10th.
