Since the early 1990s, Taiwan has been known as the world's four major machine tool production bases, including Germany, Japan, Italy, etc., and its products are best sold in more than 130 countries and regions around the world. Among them, many of the users are famous international giants. Even at a time when the global machine tool industry is not developing well, the performance of some leading companies is still growing. What kind of competitiveness does Taiwan’s machine tool industry have? Can this competitiveness be maintained for a long time?
Time is approaching 6 pm, and a gentle and pleasant music ringtone sounded in the workshop. It’s time to get off work. The staff wearing light blue tops began to walk out of the workshop in groups of three or three to enjoy the oncoming wind, although it was not very cool - the wind had obvious characteristics of tropical regions, and the wind was neither too big nor too small, full of fire.
Some employees stay in the workshop and hold technical exchange meetings before getting off work every Friday. Although it was very hot, they sat on the ground and discussed seriously and concentrically. Not far from them, a heavy vertical machining machine tool with a diameter of 6 meters stands. Looking up, this giant reveals a sharp momentum. Wu Qiqian pointed at it and said to us: "This is not the largest, we have 8 meters in diameter or even larger. There are also many companies in mainland China that make such large machine tools, some of which are much larger than ours. However, their prices are all very cheap." He smiled honestly and simply.
Wu is the manager of the business marketing department of Oil Machine Industry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Oil Machine Industry"). Located in Kaohsiung City, southern Taiwan, this company is known for its large vertical lathes and has repeatedly broken the record of the largest vertical lathe in Taiwan. Although the company is not large in size, the products of the oil engine industry have extremely high processing accuracy and good reliability. With its excellent product quality, it has many users in the aerospace field - those who are familiar with the machine tool industry must know that aerospace is a high-end market that is difficult to enter. Although the current global machine tool industry environment is not good, thanks to its achievements in high-end markets such as aerospace, the oil engine industry has maintained performance growth in the past two years and has a good profit level.
Oil engine industry is the last stop of our visit to the Taiwan Machine Tool Industry Inspection Institute. After three days of interviews, there are many companies with similar developments in the oil engine industry. Standing under this giant with a diameter of 6 meters, the question that had been hanging in my heart for a long time once again surged into my mind: How was the competitiveness of Taiwan's machine tool industry created? Why can these representative Taiwanese machine tool companies achieve counter-trend growth and be confident in future development in the context of the overall downward trend of the global machine tool industry? What is the competitiveness of
?
Foun Hai, Asus, TSMC, Acer, Delta Electric... These names are already familiar to many people. To some extent, they have become typical representatives of Taiwan's manufacturing industry and are well-known internationally.
But these are not the whole of Taiwan's manufacturing industry. There are other names that are also famous all over the world: Shangyin Technology, Dongtai Precision Machinery, Far East Machinery, Xiehong Industry, Lichi Technology, Chengtai Machinery, Xuyang Precision Machinery, Taiwan Yinxing, Pusen Precision... They form another powerful force in Taiwan's manufacturing industry - the machine tool tool industry.
This power rose as early as the early 1990s : Due to the limited market on Taiwan’s island, Taiwan’s machine tool products are mainly exported, and with its super high cost-effectiveness advantages, it has overcome difficulties in the international market, not only is it widely popular in the markets of developing countries, but also occupies a place in the markets of developed countries such as the United States, Germany, Japan, and the Netherlands. Since then, Taiwan has been known as the "four major production bases of machine tools in the world" together with Germany, Japan, Italy, etc.
Statistics show that in 2015, the annual output value of Taiwan's machine tool industry was
There is a "Silicon Valley" in the United States that is famous all over the world. In Taiwan, there is also a "grough", which some people call it the "golden valley" of precision machinery - this is the Greater Taichung area, which gathers nearly 90% of machine tool manufacturers in Taiwan. On this land with a radius of more than 2,000 square kilometers, more than 11,400 , the upper, middle and lower reaches of Taiwan's machine tool industry, has formed a complete, compact and efficient full industrial chain, and its unit area output value ranks first in the world.
Although I already know these situations, when the car drove into this "Golden Valley of Precision Machinery", I was still shocked by the scene in front of me: amid the lush bushes and the chirping birds, machine tool companies were hidden in it, and each factory building did not seem to be large in size; they lined up like neighbors, stepping out from the door of this company, and you can reach the door of another company without walking a few steps. Of course, this is just a superficial phenomenon. Its internal essence is: these closely adjacent and surrounded by machine tool companies constitute a very fine and efficient division of labor cooperation system - within an hour's drive, almost all parts can be purchased; an OEM factory has dozens or even hundreds of component companies to support it, and the OEM factory can concentrate on the manufacturing of key components, the research and development, production, and debugging of complete machine products, without having to be distracted by too many components; supporting companies can concentrate on the polishing and production of parts, striving to achieve the highest quality. Therefore, to a certain extent, the machine tool enterprises gathered in the Greater Taichung area can be regarded as an organic whole, and the machine tool enterprises scattered therein can be regarded as cell . They divide the work, support each other, and depend on each other, and each concentrates on creating their own advantages, so that the entire organism can operate efficiently and at a high level. And when this organic whole goes to overseas markets, this vigorous and vigorous vitality will evolve into a powerful competitiveness.
Taiwan Yinxing Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Yingxing") is an organic whole that specializes in the production of parts. Its main products are telescopic shields, scale shields, bellows shields, exterior sheet metal, etc. Perhaps in the eyes of many people, these products are not the core components of machine tools, so they will not become a "big business"; but Yanxing has proved this truth through his own efforts: as long as he reaches the extreme, even the smallest product can have a broad market.
Walking into the door of Yinxing Company, you may not feel the instant impact - its company in Taichung covers an area of only 5,000 square meters, and the workshop does not look very grand and atmospheric. However, the high efficiency of its organizational production has reached a surprising level - from the purchase of raw materials, the production of products to the delivery of products to users, all links are just right, and they are almost "seamless". A staff member in the workshop told me that their main raw material steel plates are purchased for only about 2 days at a time, and they arrange their own production according to the customer's production plan, and produce the products on time and with high quality. When delivered to customers, they implement "bus" delivery , that is, according to the user's location, 9 fixed routes are planned, and the shipment is once every half an hour, and they can be delivered to the customer's production line on the same day. This efficient operation has made the inventory of products and finished products that have never exceeded 0.6% of annual operating income (the average level of Taiwan's machinery manufacturing industry is 20%), and is close to zero inventory.
In addition, in the past 30 years since the company was established, Yinxing has continued to make efforts in technology research and development. It is reported that Yinxing currently owns more than 80 patented technologies, and in 2004, it authorized patents, technology, production models, etc. to a Japanese company. The staff also told us that Yinxing is still vigorously exploring and transforming the production process, and in the future, only 2 people may be needed for a production line.
is precisely through this long-term exploration in technology research and development and production management that Yinxing has achieved great success in these uncore parts products. So far, it has occupied more than 70% of the market share in Taiwan, and has built three factories in Taiwan and mainland China, and its performance has maintained continuous growth.
Another machine tool parts manufacturer - Pusen Precision Spindle Industrial Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Pusen") also left a deep impression on people. This company, founded in 1994, specializes in the production of various precision spindle products such as lathe spindle, grinder spindle, machining center spindle, extending arm boring and milling machine spindle, and is the largest among more than 30 spindle manufacturers in Taiwan. In this company, you can feel the power of "focus" more clearly.
Pusson's production workshop is also not big, and at first glance, you will feel like a "home-style handicraft workshop"; but in this small workshop,Pusson has produced high-precision, high-reliability, and high-value spindle products, and is sold to more than 20 countries and regions around the world, including the United States, Germany, Japan, Singapore, etc. Earlier this year, Taiwan's Business Weekly interviewed the company and pointed out in the report that the per capita output value of Pusen's is as high as NT$12 million (about NT$2.4 million) , which is even 30% higher than the per capita output value of Taiwan's "stock king" Daliguang.
Pussen's LOGO is embedded on the wall at the door. It looks like a "handshop" here.
Speaking of that report, the company's chairman Peng Senrong smiled embarrassedly, "In fact, our company is relatively low-key and pragmatic, and only knows how to make products solid. Since its establishment for more than 20 years, we have been following the world's most advanced level and continuously conducting research and development. We do not make low-end products for . " He introduced to us that the company strives to be solid and carefully polished every step from raw material selection, to production control, to product testing, and never sloppy. A spindle product often takes 2-3 months to produce. Its production process management is also unique - uses forms to manage people and products. "The entire production process of the product will be recorded on the form, and employees must be responsible to the form according to the requirements of the form; we will record it truthfully on the form every inspection and test and keep it. In the end, this form will be delivered to the customer as a resume along with the main axis; customers can trace it through this form." Peng Senrong said in detail. He then took us into an archive room where forms were stored, and a large bookshelves were neatly filled with various forms. "These are only this year. We still keep the forms from 20 years ago and have never been destroyed. On the one hand, it facilitates customer tracing. On the other hand, we can also summarize these forms to improve our shortcomings."
Peng Senrong also told me that before founding Pusen Company, he worked in spindle production in a Japanese company. "So I learned two expertise, one is spindle production and manufacturing, and the other is corporate management. In fact, our company's management was learned from Japanese companies. " He smiled sincerely.
is not the same as the production workshops of common machinery companies, and Pusen's production workshop is much quieter. The staff are focusing and patiently polishing and carefully inspecting the products with their hands. "If spindle products want to be high-precision, they must have long-term experience accumulation. In fact, we are very similar to Swiss watch companies. The production experience of those essence has accumulated over the years and finally formed our technical advantages. So although our factory is not large, the products produced are all high-tech and high-value. Some companies have large factories and many equipment, but the products produced are often very low-end." Peng Senrong said meaningfully.
In Pusen's production workshop, an employee was checking the product
. When I talked about the lack of this patience and precipitation of many mainland companies, Peng Senrong said with concern: "A product like this high-precision and high-tech content requires employees to continue to work in order to form accumulating experience and ensure quality and level. Our employees have almost no mobility and are very stable, but there is a very bad phenomenon in the mainland - You finally train an employee, and they may be poached twice the salary. But this situation rarely occurs in Taiwan. If someone comes from my peer company and wants to come to work with me, I will not want it. "
This pursuit of extreme concentration and long-term accumulation and polishing makes Pusen's spindle products have strong market competitiveness. Although the machine tool market situation in mainland China has not been good in the past two years, Pusen's performance has continued to grow at a rate of 20%-30%. "In the future, Pusen will target Japan, South Korea and other European and American countries as its target markets to conduct research and development of various high-end precision high-speed spindles." Peng Senrong pointed out confidently.
This "focus" spirit is vividly reflected in Xuyang International Precision Machinery Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Xuyang"). This company is the first manufacturer in Taiwan that specializes in the production of index plates, and has so far become the leading manufacturer of index plates in Taiwan. The company's chairman You Jinkun (who is also the vice chairman of the Taiwan Machine Tool and Components Industry Association) and his two sons accepted our interview together - you may have guessed that is a family-owned enterprise . The eldest son You Liangqi is currently the general manager of the company, responsible for the daily operation of the company; the second son is in charge of product research and development. Although this company has been established for nearly 40 years, its history is even longer - You Liangqi tells us that in fact, the family has been working on machinery since grandfather, and has been passed down for more than 60 years.
you jinkun (first row left) and his two sons
This kind of inheritance between generations and accumulation of long-term experience ensures the high precision, high performance and high reliability of the product to some extent. In fact, many old German industrial enterprises are also family businesses. The family has been passed down steadily for generations, focusing on polishing products and accumulating production experience, and even continuously researching and developing a certain product or technology for decades, ultimately creating a unique product.
I asked You Liangqi this question: "Since the indexing disk, dota and other products are so well done, have you ever thought about the research and development and manufacturing of machine tool complete machine products?" He answered me without hesitation that Xuyang is a company specializing in the production of indexing disk and dota, and must focus on the research and development and production of these products, and has no intention of making complete machines.
This focused on and continuous technological research and development has enabled Xuyang to create a high-quality product. At the just-concluded 2016 China CNC Machine Tool Exhibition, Xuyang exhibited the first independently developed direct drive motor fourth-axis DDR-170 product , which has a series of characteristics such as super-large torque and wear-free, high precision, and long life, which has attracted many mainland machine tool companies to purchase.
Like most machine tool companies, Xuyang's largest market is also mainland China. Although the machine tool industry in mainland China is currently overcapacity and the market environment is poor, Xuyang's performance has continued to grow - the company is even expanding its production capacity. Its production plant in Jiashan, Zhejiang, was just put into operation of at the beginning of the year to meet the market demand of the 3C industry.
article At this point, perhaps you can already understand where the competitiveness of Taiwan's machine tool industry lies. In fact, similar to many machine tool companies in mainland China, Taiwan's machine tools do not have many advantages in motors and CNC systems, and most of them also purchase products from internationally renowned brands. However, Taiwan has done a very good job in core components such as spindles, indexing discs, guide rails, ball screws. These 's high-precision and high-reliability core components, coupled with the focus and extreme assembly and production of , make Taiwan's machine tool products keep up with the world's advanced level in overall strength; and the price advantage makes the gap between its technical level and German and Japanese brands, thus showing a strong competitiveness in the international market.
focuses on industry 4.0
However, this competitiveness based on "cost-performance ratio" can sometimes encounter crises - such as the decline of the yen.
Since 2014, a sudden wave of "yen decline" has come, which has had a huge impact on Taiwan's machine tool industry - in the overseas market, the decline in the yen once made Japanese machine tool products cheaper than Taiwan, which made Taiwan's machine tools price advantage no longer exists and it is difficult to compete with Japanese products. By the end of that year, the export share of Taiwan's machine tool industry had dropped from the third in the world to the fourth in the world, and the total output value also dropped from the fifth in the world to the seventh in the world. The wave of continued until 2015, causing a long-term impact on Taiwan's machine tool industry; in 2016, the yen rebounded, and this impact and squeeze was slightly alleviated.
Taiwan Machine Tool and Components Industry Association Vice Chairman Yan Ruixiong told me, "Last year was indeed a hard year for Taiwanese machine tool manufacturers. Our direction is to find Japanese machine models with weaker Japanese machines to develop them. We vigorously market in countries and regions with weaker Japanese products to cope with the impact of the decline of the yen." However, he changed his tone and then said to me: "In fact, it is not just Taiwan. The world is not in good condition, but Taiwan's machine tool industry is still very dynamic. It just takes advantage of this recession to increase R&D and continue to improve its level." The implication is that the impacted Taiwan machine tool industry has not lost its vitality and fighting spirit, but has begun to devote itself to practicing and brewing a "transformation and upgrading." The core of this breakthrough in
is to seize the opportunity of Industry 4.0.
Since its inception in Germany in 2011, the wave of Industry 4.0 has rapidly washed away the world, and Taiwan is no exception. However, although Industry 4.0 is also one of the hottest topics in Taiwan’s machine tool industry at present, compared to the booming mainland China, the machine tool companies here are more of a practical atmosphere, and the efforts and explorations made are concentrated in the technical level.
Yan Ruixiong's other identity is the chairman of Dongtai Seiji Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Dongtai Seiji"). This company, which has a history of nearly 50 years, is located in Kaohsiung City in southern Taiwan. It is known for its comprehensive machining center, CNC lathes, etc., and has outstanding strength in the fields of automobiles, aerospace and other fields. In recent years, Dongtai Precision Machinery has also expanded its product line to laser drilling machines, 3D printing, semiconductors, panel equipment , etc., and has maintained a very rapid development speed through continuous efforts in these emerging fields.
In the past period, Yan Ruixiong led Dongtai Precision Machinery to conduct vigorous exploration in Industry 4.0 and is currently at the forefront of the industry. The staff told us that Dongtai Precision Machinery has developed the "Dongtai Intelligent Manufacturing System" , which includes four major management functions: production management, intelligent monitoring, tool management and workpiece management. By developing a variety of applications that can be executed on the PC, various information required for automated production equipment can be managed, which can effectively improve the existing operating environment and make it more convenient for customers to operate on a single machine; and when connecting multiple machines, the basic architecture of smart automation and smart factory can be built.
Dongtai Precision Machinery uses 3D printing to make dolls
Yan Ruixiong specifically divides the level of productivity into 6 stages - in his opinion, "1.0" is a stand-alone production automation; "2.0" is the automation of the entire production line (special machine mass production); "2.5" is the import of the ERP system, and the enterprise resources are electronically managed; "3.0" is the production automation manufacturing management; "3.5" is the intelligent production system, which imports signal sensing, data processing, robot equipment, etc.; "4.0" is the networked service manufacturing system, which uses intelligent automation as the basis, and uses CPS, the Internet of Things, big data, etc. for intelligent manufacturing and comprehensive services. He pointed out that is currently Dongtai Precision Machinery can help customers plan to achieve "Industry 3.5" . It is now trying to make more efforts in smart automation through more research and development and investment, collaborate with customers and move towards Industry 4.0 together.
Yan Ruixiong also told me that Taiwan currently chooses the "NC+PC" method of on the path of Industry 4.0. . For a long time, most of the controller architecture devices used by machine tool companies are mainly based on the CNC controller architecture. Therefore, the use is limited by the level specifications of the CNC controller. New functions are often added to achieve detection, protection and other functions, which often need to be completed through external I/O and computers. In this case, if a PC computer is connected to the controller, the sensor, control signal, drive signal and other states can be fed back to the PC, thereby ensuring the stability and safety of the production state in real time. "It is a very complicated task to develop smart software on different controllers. But Taiwan's PC industry is very developed and has relatively cheap PC products. We will embed Taiwan's PC on NC, which will form a feature of Taiwan. uses the 'NC+PC' method to first promote the intelligence of stand-alone machines, build infrastructure, and in the future, it will improve the overall intelligence level through machine networking, etc.." He said confidently.
Another leading company, Shangyin Technology Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Shangyin Technology"), is also undergoing a vigorous transformation and transformation. This company, officially established in 1989, started its with precision components such as ball screws and linear slides, and has now developed into a leading global linear transmission brand. However, in recent years, Shangyin Technology is focusing on building another business segment - robots.
In a short time, Shangyin quickly developed a variety of industrial robot such as articular robots, parallel robots, wafer robots, and medical robots such as lower limb strength training machines, bath spa machines, endoscope support robot arms, and more and more competitive in the market. This competitiveness is reflected in the comprehensive performance of its robot products on the one hand, and on the other hand, it is reflected in the increasing self-production rate of the core components used by its robots. Peng Yanqi, deputy general manager of Shangyin Technology Marketing Group, told me that Shangyin's robot products have been widely used in the packaging, electronics, semiconductors, shoes, medical and other industries, and their sales momentum has grown rapidly; , and the sales share of traditional machine tool products has dropped below 50%. "At present, more than half of the core components in Shangyin robots are made by ourselves, and some of the control systems are produced by ourselves. In the future, robots will be our key strategic industry!" she said confidently.
In terms of the traditional advantageous product - ball screw, Shangyin Technology has also followed the trend of Industry 4.0 and conducted intelligent exploration. In the lobby of Shangyin Company's headquarters, there is an ball screw with intelligent diagnosis capabilities. The staff told us that by installing embedded sensors on the ball screw, the vibration, prepressure, lubrication, thermal storage and other data of the product can be monitored. These data can be transmitted to an APP, thereby realizing remote monitoring and ensuring the reliable operation of the machine.
Through this vigorous transformation and courageous R&D, Shangyin Technology's performance in recent years has not only maintained rapid growth, but also has accumulated more and more abundant energy on the road of "Industry 4.0". In 2015, Forbes selected the top 100 global innovative growth companies, Shangyin Technology ranked 37th, and will radiate stronger competitiveness in the future era of intelligent manufacturing.
In another company with a long history, Far East Machinery Industrial Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Far East Machinery), the exploration of Industry 4.0 is in full swing and has initially shown results.
This company was founded in 1949 and is located in Chiayi City, Taiwan. Far East Machinery currently has 5 major business groups: Iron and Steel Division, Engineering Division, Machinery Division, Fade Technology, and Qikun Technology. Among them, Fad Technology has very distinctive exploration in Industry 4.0 - it has successfully developed an aluminum rim automation production line equipped with a fully automatic virtual measurement system (AVM). The staff told us that in addition to real-time monitoring of aluminum rims in production and reducing losses and disadvantages in the process, the biggest feature of is that after the aluminum rim is produced, the quality and accuracy measurement can be automatically synchronized and completed , and the measurement data will be synchronized to the cloud to store, using the data as a reference value in the future; some records can also be sent to specific personnel or customers at the same time to monitor the production process in a timely manner; in addition, the stored data can also be applied to the immediate tool compensation during production to maintain the high quality and high stability of the product. All programs will be completed synchronously within the turning time, greatly reducing previous working hours.
It is reported that after rigorous testing of up to tens of thousands of aluminum wheels, Fade Technology received positive reviews from nearly 70% of users, confirming that the system has indeed reduced the amount of manpower required for production and brought great benefits to users. In addition, the company's chairman Zhuang Guohui emphasized that the accuracy of the aluminum rim produced by the aluminum rim automation production line with fully automatic virtual measurement systems is almost no different from the accuracy measured using three-dimensional detection equipment. This greatly encouraged R&D personnel and added the company's confidence to fully enter the Industrial 4.0 automation equipment market.
Chengtai Machinery Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Chengtai") is another distinctive company we came into contact with during this interview. The company has 4 brands: Chengtai, Yawei, EXTRON and YAMA SEIKI, which specializes in the North American market. Its sales network covers 45 countries and regions around the world and is highly competitive in industries such as automobiles, molds, energy, electronics, and medical equipment.
Unlike most of the whole machine companies seen in this interview, Chengtai develops and produces core components such as spindles, turrets, tailstocks, gear boxes, tool magazines, etc. to ensure high precision. In terms of Industry 4.0, Chengtai has developed the G.Linc350 system, SVI simulation system, G.Net remote monitoring system, etc. In its production workshop, an employee told me that the integration of the three can achieve early simulation production, data transmission to the cloud or mobile device, real-time monitoring of the operating status, etc., so that the machine has a higher level of intelligence.
In addition to whole-machine companies, some parts manufacturers are also seizing the opportunity and devoted themselves to the wave of Industry 4.0. For example, the Psen Company mentioned above, I originally thought that spindle products only need to be high precision, high reliability and long life, but Peng Senrong smiled and told me that the spindle spindle also needs to be "intelligent" - their approach is to install sensors on the spindle to monitor the displacement, heat and other operating data of the spindle in real time; to analyze these data through an independent development analysis system, and promptly feedback the working status of the spindle to users. "We have recently developed the ‘far-end noise detection system’ . If there is a spindle abnormality on the client, only needs to record the sound of the spindle running to us, and we can analyze the cause of the abnormality. can then handle and repair this reason, which greatly shortens the repair time and reduces the repair cost derived from misjudgment."Peng Senrong introduced in detail. However, he does not seem to be satisfied with just reaching the current level of intelligence. He told me that the future spindle of should have self-diagnosis, or even some degree of self-repair or assisting in repairs , so as to create greater value for customers; and Pusen is working in this direction.
new sunny day?
undoubtedly, the strong wave of Industry 4.0 has caused huge waves in every corner of Taiwan's machine tool industry. Whether it is a complete machine company with annual revenue of billions or a component manufacturer with a scale of only a few dozen people, they are seizing this opportunity and integrating into this vigorous change in a way that suits themselves. To this end, this year's "Taiwan International Machine Tools Exhibition" (hereinafter referred to as "TMTS") specially set the theme as "to start smart manufacturing Toward Industry 4.0”, it will systematically and comprehensively display the exploration and achievements of Taiwan’s machine tool industry in Industry 4.0. The
TMTS exhibition is the most solemn event in Taiwan’s machine tool industry. This exhibition is hosted by the Taiwan Machine Tool and Components Industry Association, and this year is the fourth. Due to the innovative exhibition form of “exhibition combined with the supply chain of origin”, close to the industry’s development trend, and concentrated on displaying the industry’s top technologies, TMTS has been in just seven seconds. The scale has expanded rapidly over the past year and has become a weather vane for Taiwan's machine tool industry. It is reported that the "2016 TMTS Taiwan International Machine Tool Exhibition" is not only the largest international machine tool exhibition in Taiwan this year, but also the trade show in Taiwan's largest single exhibition area.
As mentioned earlier, Taiwan is one of the main production and consumption markets of machine tools in the world. The number of manufacturers in the entire industry exceeds more than 1,600, of which nearly 90% are concentrated in the Greater Taichung —This makes Taichung not only a major global machine tool manufacturing center, but also a major consumption area for machine tools and other machinery equipment. In 2015, Taiwan ranked fourth in the world in machine tool exports. Within 60 kilometers of Taichung area, manufacturers including mold industry, hand tool industry, bicycle industry, automobile and motorcycle parts industry, metal processing industry and various industrial machinery are gathered in Taichung. Therefore, this industry event chose to settle in Taichung-"2016TMTS Taiwan International Tools The Machine Exhibition will be grandly launched at the Greater Taichung International Convention and Exhibition Center from November 23 to 27, 2019. is close to the sales market, and on the other hand, it has extremely convenient transportation conditions. is expected to have more than 75,000 visitors in 2016.
You Jinkun, vice chairman of the Taiwan Machine Tool and Components Industry Association, introduced us to the "2016 TMTS Taiwan International Machine Tool Exhibition" will focus on "starting smart manufacturing" Moving towards the theme of Industry 4.0, a series of achievements including sensing technology, machine networking M2M, big data decision-making, production robots, human-computer collaboration system, intelligent elastic production system , etc. Due to the increasing influence of the TMTS exhibition in the international market, there were 4,133 stalls registered for the exhibition this year. However, due to the limitation of the venue, had to exhibit only 4,000 stalls, with an exhibition area of 78,000 square meters. The overall exhibition scale and number of exhibitors in both increased by 8% compared with the previous session. "As the largest single exhibition area in Taiwan in recent years, TMTS plays an important trading platform between global tool machine industry producers and consumers. The professional exhibition has won the recognition of global buyers. It is conservatively estimated that the order amount of the exhibition site this year is expected to exceed 250 million US dollars , and the transaction scale is even better than the previous session! " You Jinkun said with great enthusiasm. He also told us that in order to serve visitors and buyers from all over the world, the organizer will provide new product presentation, procurement negotiations, factory visits and free city tours during the TMTS exhibition. I believe that buyers and visitors from all over the world can fully experience Taiwan's industrial vitality while watching the exhibition.
TMTS Previous exhibition grand occasions
Although leading enterprises have maintained performance growth through their own efforts, most of them have maintained performance growth; in terms of overall operating conditions, Taiwan's machine tool industry is still ups and downs by 636 million US dollars in the first quarter of this year, Taiwan's machine tool exports totaled US$636 million, down 20%-30% from the same period last year; the total export of machine tool parts was US$225 million, a decrease of 30.9% from the same period last year. On the one hand, is due to the general recession of the global machine tool industry, but on the other hand, it also seems to indicate that Taiwan's machine tool industry needs to continue to improve its own level in order to defeat international giants such as Germany and Japan in an increasingly competitive market and win greater market space.
The weather in Taiwan in summer is changing. When you are strolling forward under the scorching sun, maybe there will be a rainy cloud waiting for you in front of you. The weather's cloudy and sunny thunderstorm may just symbolize the rise and fall of the global machine tool industry in recent years. When we just walked into the door of Xiehong Industrial Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Xiehong") to start the interview, the scorching sun suddenly turned into a pouring rain. Looking at our surprised face, Xiehong's tour guide calmly told us: "Don't worry, maybe the rain will stop before you have visited the workshop."
Sure enough, when we walked out of the production workshop of this well-known company with a history of 50 years and a total of more than 46,000 products, the sun was shining on the earth.
Can Taiwan’s machine tool industry seize the opportunity of Industry 4.0 and usher in a new sunny day after thunderstorm?
When we walked out of Xiehong's workshop, the sun shone on the earth
