At around 6 pm today, 38 Taiwanese temple representatives led by the initiator of the direct flight of Taiwan fishing boats in Meizhou, led by Lin Yuanji, the honorary chairman of Yilan Nan'an Tiangong, Chairman Chen Zhengxin, Chiayi New Port Fengtian Palace, and 231 temple representatives who have direct flights to Meizhou for the past. On the occasion of the direct flight to Meizhou for worshiping Mazu 3, they made an appointment to come to Meizhou to pay homage to their ancestors and incense to commemorate this great historical moment. As a result, the 11th Straits Forum and Mazu Cultural Week activities were kicked off.
With the help of staff, Chen Zhengxin, the 75-year-old chairman of the Nanfang Ao Nantian Palace, first disembarked from the "Sea God 11" passenger ship. Behind him were several Yilan compatriots who had sailed directly on a fishing boat with him on a fishing boat to Meizhou Island. They escorted the five Mazu statues that he respectfully invited from Meizhou Ancestral Temple back to the palace. The moment they stepped onto the dock under the palace, a feeling of déjà vu came naturally, and everyone's faces were filled with happiness and joy. "We are back with five statues of Mazu!" As soon as we got ashore, Chen Zhengxin told reporters excitedly that 30 years have passed in a flash, and he can still escort the statue of Mazu's spirit to return to the Meizhou Ancestral Temple again, and he is very moved.
Meizhou Mazu Temple Chairman Lin Jinzan led all directors and supervisors to form a grand welcome team with Mei Nuhui, Cheongsam Team, Electronic Music Three Princes, and multiple folk teams to go to the Palace Museum to welcome the "old friends" from afar, and held a grand folk street stepping activity and a divine seating ceremony. The street-striking team formed by the host and the guest was swaying. From the dock at the Meizhou Palace to the ancestral temple, colorful flags were flying along the way, gongs and drums were loud, singing and dancing, joy and excitement were beyond words. Afterwards, everyone respectfully held the spirit of Mazu, stepped on the streets, climbed up the steps, and placed Mazu at the ancestral temple, and held a worship ceremony to pray for peace and welfare on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
"The strait cannot stop pious worship, and differences cannot stop burning incense from faith." Lin Jinzan said in his speech that in 1989, Taiwan's southern Ao Nantian Palace organized more than 20 fishing boats to overcome numerous difficulties and travel directly to Meizhou to worship Mazu, setting a precedent for direct flights of large fleets after the separation of the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. Subsequently, the Taiwan Mazu Association, the Kinmen County Government, the Mazu Temple, the Mazu Temple, the Chiayi Tianhou Temple, etc. organized more than 15 direct flights from Taichung, Kinmen, Mazu, Chiayi and other places to Meizhou, promoting the realization of policies such as "small three links" and "big three links" across the Taiwan Strait, promoting exchanges in various fields between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, demonstrating the cultural bloodline of the same roots and origins.
In the history of cross-strait exchanges, the "three links" have always been the unremitting goal pursued by the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. In 2001, the two sides of the Taiwan Strait began to have a "small three connections". At the end of 2008, the two-way and direct "three connections" between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait were finally realized. Nowadays, a daily living circle between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait has long been formed, and it is very convenient for people to travel between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait. However, such convenience was almost unimaginable in the historical period when the two sides of the Taiwan Strait were isolated 30 years ago. On May 6, 1989, 224 Mazu believers led by 20 fishing boats led by Lin Yuanji, then chairman of Su'an Tiangong, Yilan, Taiwan, broke through numerous obstacles, storms and waves, and made their first direct trip to Meizhou Island for a pilgrimage, and invited more than 300 statues of Mazu gods to return to Taiwan to worship. At that time, this move was the first to make Taiwan's direct flights to the mainland since 1949, causing a sensation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, and it was called "the two sides of the Taiwan Strait are in conflict with each other, and religion is the first."
