Due to the outbreak of the epidemic and the increasing global COVID-19 epidemic, starting from November 2020, foreigners will need to provide an additional invitation letter to China issued by the Chinese Foreign Affairs Department when applying for visas to China. However, starting from June 6, 2022, this regulation will be cancelled.

Foreigners who come to China to find employment do not need an invitation letter!

Recently, Chinese embassies in Japan, South Korea, Sri Lanka and other countries have announced through their official website the relevant regulations on foreigners’ invitation letters to come to China when applying for a visa for work or family members to come to China.

From June 6, 2022, foreigners who come to China to work will no longer need to apply for an invitation letter. They can directly apply for a work visa to the Chinese Consulate abroad with their work permit notice and other materials. Their accompanying family members can directly apply for a family visa to the Chinese Consulate abroad with kinship certificate and other materials.

After canceling the application of foreigners' invitation letter to work in China, their visa procedures for entering China will be shortened by at least one month accordingly. However, due to business visits, academic exchanges or participating in major projects in China, foreigners who apply for business M4 or F4 visas still need to apply for an invitation letter to China, and then submit a visa application to the Chinese consulate abroad.

It is recommended that enterprises make travel arrangements in advance based on the application time of invitation letters to China and the application time of entry visa. If the company, foreigner and family members have recently requested to go to China, and the Chinese embassy in the country where the personnel are located has not yet clarified the materials required for visa application, it is recommended to verify with the embassy abroad to prepare the application materials in a timely manner to ensure that you can travel as planned.
