Purchasing NFT is now one of the most popular ways to invest in the crypto market. In fact, these NFTs have proven to be a great investment option given the amount of returns they generate for their holders. But similar to anything that gains popularity and captures billions of dollars in market share, scammers have turned to non-fungible tokens in an attempt to give investors their money, and some of them have been successful.

Lana Rhoades is a porn star turned social media influencer who is making headlines for pulling off one of the latest NFT scams. Rhoades began promoting the NFT project in January by leveraging her large social media following. The investment, which promised community members a substantial return on investment, quickly gained support and raised $1.5 million.

As with any NFT project, users will want to receive their NFTs when the project launches. But when the porn star and social media influencer decided to quit the project and disappeared without a trace, taking $1.5 million in investor funds, panic gripped the community.

CryptoSis was originally an NFT collection of influencer cartoon images, but was discovered to be a scam by YouTube investigator Coffeezilla. The YouTuber revealed the plans in a recent video that showed step-by-step the events surrounding the project.

Rhoades has promised investors that the non-fungible token will be a profitable investment as she continues to push to increase the value of images. The influencer also claims that other models have signed on to design their own NFT lines, making it an ongoing project. She assured her community that they would be able to sell for a higher price than they paid for them.

Rhodes' project had received $1.5 million in donations before her disappearance. She immediately converted all donated funds to Ethereum and has been MIA ever since, saying she was shocked and upset by the amount of negative and rude comments she received from the community.

While Rhoades still has an image of the NFT project's logo as her profile picture, her 1.5 million followers haven't heard from her since Sunday. She also doesn’t post on Instagram, where she has 16.8 million followers. However, posts about CryptoSis remain on her page.
