A few days ago we traveled to Cambodia Siem Reap. Through these few days of experience, I would like to share with you some points to note.
1. The rainy season is from May to November.
When traveling in the rainy season, be sure to bring rain gear. Because the heavy rain that comes at any time is real. It is absolutely possible that one second the sun will be scorching and the sky will be clear, and the next second there will be heavy rain and flash floods. No, there is nowhere to escape due to the heavy rain. Also, if the weather suddenly cools down and it's almost going to rain, take out the raincoat you have prepared.
2. Traveling with dirty shoes
In Tokyo you can wear your oversize sweatshirt, in Paris you can wear white shoes, in Siem Reap, please wear the oldest shoes that fit well. Unless, you don’t care that your white shoes have turned into yellow shoes. The red soil here is the killer of good shoes.
3. Be sure to hire a tour guide
The cost of a Chinese tour guide may be as high as 70 US dollars per day. If you choose not to hire a tour guide, you are spending at least 5,000 yuan of your travel budget to see some broken rocks . Really, they are just rocks. Please be prepared to be excited on the first day, indifferent on the second day, and just want to stay in the hotel on the third day to prepare.
4. This is a tropical country
There are many bugs here, the sun is very poisonous, and the air is very humid. Please be patient and take measures to deal with these three annoying environments, otherwise your trip will be troubled by all kinds of troubles.
5. Is there any food here?
This place has nothing to do with food, that is, the fruit is not bad. Cambodia likes black pepper and vegetarian dishes, and most of the local food is just makeshift. Anyway, after eating the aluminum pot barbecue, I have been worried about whether my already optimistic IQ will drop due to this.
6. Tuk-tuk is a must.
There are no taxis here, and tuk-tuks have become the most convenient means of transportation. Therefore, if UBER enters Cambodia, the first product to be launched will definitely be the one-click tuk-tuk service.
7. If you want to find an air-conditioned restaurant, take a break.
Pubstreet and night markets are quite popular in Southeast Asia. If you can find a restaurant that provides air conditioning, it means that the environment is considered to be first-class.
8. One dollar for one dollar~~
Angkor Monuments There are many children in the group who speak fluent Chinese and let you buy their refrigerator magnets, postcards or scarves. The items are not expensive, and the quality depends on luck. The important thing is that they will follow you all the time. I actually feel a cold-blooded feeling of guilt if I don’t buy them.
9. It’s fun and comfortable to play thoroughly, and it takes three days
If you want to go to the outer circle, you must charter a car. The price of chartering a car is actually not expensive, and the driver will also recommend some scenic spots worth visiting. The best thing is that the driver’s weather forecast is much more accurate than a mobile phone. If you're lucky, you happen to be in the car when it rains. When you get off the car and get to the scenic spot, the rain just stops. This is the driver's credit.
10. Don’t overuse compassion
I don’t agree with buying gifts for local children. Although they are indeed poor, excessive giving of “free gifts” will make children take it for granted. You can get a lot without working. This is undoubtedly is terrible.
Finally, I want to say that maybe after listening to the above ten points, you will think that Angkor Wat is not worth visiting, so you made a mistake!
This is called love and hate.
