According to the Hong Kong media China Review News Agency, Taipei's famous "Shilin Night Market" used to be a must-visit tourist attraction for mainland tourists visiting Taiwan. However, in recent years, due to the epidemic and the lack of mainland tourists, the business of Shilin Night Market has been affected. Although many people come to visit the night market during the Lunar New Year, many stores have closed their rolling shutters and even rental advertisements are hanging on the streets, which is very different from the prosperity of the past.
Shilin Night Market is the largest night market landmark in Taipei and the most frequented night market in Taiwan. It has been selected as Taiwan's representative night market and the top must-see attraction for tourists visiting Taiwan many times, and has become internationally famous. However, in recent years, due to the impact of the epidemic and the lack of mainland tourists coming to Taiwan, the business of Shilin Night Market has plummeted.
Although many people came to the Shilin Night Market during the Lunar New Year, it seemed that it did not bring much success. Many stores still had their rolling shutters closed, and even store rental advertisements almost covered the entire street. From the intersection of Danan Road and Dadong Road all the way to the intersection of Wenlin Road, there were 10 stores for rent in a short 150 meters, which was very different from the bustling prosperity of the past.
The "Taipei Performing Arts Center" adjacent to Shilin Night Market opened in August last year. Due to its unique giant spherical shape, netizens nicknamed it "Gong Wan" and "Braised Egg", and it attracted a certain number of people. (Reporter Yang Tengkai)
