Singtel Group President Chua Shujun and Temasek Holdings CEO Ho Ching were once again on the list of "50 Most Powerful Women in the World Outside the United States" this year.

" Fortune Magazine " (Fortune Magazine) yesterday announced this year's ranking of the most powerful women. Ho Jing rose two places to eighth place, while Cai Shujun fell from third place to fourth place.

This ranking includes women from 19 countries, 16% of which are new faces.

The magazine pointed out that in the 10 years since Chua Shujun (58 years old) has led Singtel, she has developed Singtel into the largest telecommunications company in Southeast Asia, with a market value of US$51 billion (S$69.4 billion) and last year’s profit of US$2.8 billion, 70% of which came from overseas business.

Undeterred by international currency volatility, she invested in two of the largest mobile telecom operators in Thailand and India.

"Fortune Magazine" said that this savvy technology entrepreneur has also made huge investments in network security, grasping Singapore's status as the most digital country in the world, and achieving results.

Singtel's information and communications technology revenue rose 18% in the first quarter of fiscal 2017, offsetting a decline in consumer segment revenue. This can be attributed to the company's $810 million acquisition of U.S. cybersecurity company Trustwave in September last year.

The magazine said that under the leadership of Ho Ching (63), the company's $180 billion investment portfolio has expanded outside Asia, achieving annual shareholder returns of 6% each year over the past 10 years (except for a 9% decline in 2015).
