In the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Peking Union Medical College Hospital was the best hospital in my country at that time, and it was taken over by the military. Peking Union Medical College Hospital is not only responsible for the medical care of senior generals of our army, but also the first choice for foreign diplomats stationed in China when they fall ill.

Later, he handed over this task to General Hong Xuezhi, then deputy director of the General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army. Under the planning and arrangement of Hong Xuezhi, a high-level military hospital came into being. This is the People's Liberation Army 301 Hospital. 301 was originally a small hospital in the North China Military Region, managed by Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Relevant military departments established the 301 Hospital on the basis of this hospital, which was also the predecessor of the People's Liberation Army General Hospital.
Under the instructions of relevant leaders, Peking Union Medical College Hospital was handed over to the management of the government health department, and all military cadres stationed in the hospital were withdrawn. However, when the 301 Hospital was founded, there was an urgent need for various medical and health talents. Therefore, under the coordination of Hong Xuezhi, Peking Union Medical College Hospital sent a group of doctors and nurses to the 301 Hospital. At the same time, the General Logistics Department also decided that graduates from military medical universities should be given priority to 301 hospitals to make up for the shortage of talents.
Later, based on the 301 Hospital, the army merged several other hospitals to establish the People's Liberation Army General Hospital. Not only is he responsible for the medical treatment of officers and soldiers of the entire army, but he is also responsible for the health care of important leaders in the party, government and military systems. Therefore, hospital management has high requirements, at least politically, it is strictly confidential, so there is no need to worry about leaks.
The most mysterious place in the People's Liberation Army General Hospital is naturally the South Building. The medical staff working here are the highest-level and most skilled in the army. The South Building is also a place where national and military leaders receive medical care. The South Building is the most closely guarded area of the People's Liberation Army Hospital, with special guards stationed and mobile sentries patrolling. At the same time, if you want to enter or exit the South Building, you need to get approval from the General Logistics Department and show your pass.
Among the founding generals, Marshal Ye Jianying, Marshal Nie Rongzhen, General Huang Kecheng, General Han Xianchu, General Hong Xuezhi, General Wang Zhen and other leaders, as well as leaders such as Deng Gong and Li Xiannian, all received treatment in the South Building of the People's Liberation Army General Hospital.
Before the military reform, the PLA General Hospital was affiliated to the PLA General Logistics Department and was at the military level. After the military reform in 2016, the General Hospital merged the former Armed Police General Hospital, Air Force General Hospital, Beijing Military Region General Hospital and General Staff General Hospital to form the new PLA General Hospital. After the establishment of the Joint Logistics Support Force, the PLA General Hospital was placed under the Joint Logistics Support Force, and its level was adjusted to the deputy military level.
Today, the People's Liberation Army General Hospital has eight medical centers and one branch. It has the largest staff size and the highest technical level in the entire army. Although it is a military hospital, not only active military personnel or leading cadres can receive medical treatment here.
