IT Home reported on November 21 that the wafer foundry TSMC said today that the Kaohsiung factory has officially started construction after land preparation and will achieve mass production in 2024 as planned.
TSMC President Wei Zhejia had previously said at a legal talk meeting that TSMC's 7-nanometer process capacity utilization rate loosened in the fourth quarter, resulting in the temporary delay in the construction time of Kaohsiung 's 7-nanometer factory, but no cancellation or change of the plan, while the 28-nanometer factory was still proceeding as expected.
According to reports, TSMC Kaohsiung Factory is located in Nanzi Industrial Park and is the former site of CNPC Kaohsiung Oil Refinery. The Kaohsiung Municipal Government hopes to combine Qiaotou Science Park, Luke and Nanke to build it into an semiconductor industrial settlement, and is expected to be mass-produced in 2024.
