Qian Jinnai: I am not very similar to others. In Wenzhou, we are a product with no education, no major, no funds, and no connections. We can really say that we have nothing.

When I went into the sea, my father didn't give me money. I was a teacher at Zhongyan Central School at that time. My father said that if you work hard, you still have the chance to be the principal. If my ancestors had a good job, they might be the deputy director of the Municipal Education Bureau. With such a good job, I could earn 32.60 cents a month. Why should I go out and be a self-employed person?

But in 1985 and 1986, Wenzhou already had the taste of going into business, so my father and his brother had already started to run factories. My grandfather had a bad business experience. He asked his father to read a lot of books before, but now he himself began to know how to buy and sell. Of course, it was called "speculative" at that time.

At that time, I said a lot of good things to my father and asked me to give me some money and go out for a while, but he didn't encourage me to go out. So, I took half of the accumulated money and half of the loan to Xinjiang and took a train of three days and three nights.

Zhenghe Island: Many people are very scared when taking the first step. There are many unknowns ahead and they dare not take this step. There was such an entrepreneurial atmosphere in Wenzhou at that time?

Qian Jinnai: atmosphere is indeed very important. When I went into business, my two "mentors" had been in business for seven or eight years. Our group of local bullies are different from the "92 Sect". Many of them have some connections in the agency, and have a foundation, and are easy to grow.

Our group of people have no professionalism, no funds, and no three. They just rely on their feelings to explore the market and the world. At that time, Wenzhou was already very lively and the private economy was very active. In 1985, private trade with Taiwan at the dock in 1986 was very popular, and even Taiwanese ships could drive over. As we heard and witnessed, we moved faster.

Qian Jinnai: actually wanted to solve the problem from a legal level at the beginning. Many of these merchants were brought up by me personally. People will naturally have feelings after being in contact for a long time, and if I don’t take the responsibility, many of them will never get up again.

When I started my first wholesale market, I recruited the investment myself, and I opened the promotion meeting myself. I did the contracts and orders of these merchants.I have always been very close to them. I would find merchants in groups of three or three to eat together almost every weekend, solicit their opinions and listen to their suggestions, and even many business secrets and inspirations are given by them. In recent years, Xinjiang has attached great importance to the construction of optimizing the development environment, providing many tangible conveniences and helps for the development of enterprises. But from practice, Xinjiang still needs to be optimized and improved.

First of all, I think Xinjiang should set the goal of "the best business environment in the west". Some very good companies in Hangzhou suddenly fell out. Dun'an is actually a very good company, but companies with more than 60 billion assets cannot be issued because of the 1 billion bonds, which caused the capital chain to be broken. I think it is a pity. A good company that has been working hard for decades has collapsed now. I think this is a loss from a region, a loss from Zhejiang, and a loss from the country.

Zhenghe Island: enterprises are in a good state at the moment, but you are still researching new technologies, including blockchain technology, etc. What will Dehui end up doing? Will you consider going home to take care of your grandson?

Qian Jinnai: The huge leap of the enterprise is nothing more than three points: grand vision, firm belief, and exquisite details. My original life dream was to bring out more than 3,000 people who were affected. I am very pleased now that none of these more than 3,000 households have petitioned since then. There were petitions in the first three years, but after three years, there were no petitions in the resettlement and compensation. Judging from the major domestic fire cases, the fire in Shenyang burned more than 2,000 people, and there are still petitions in Beijing after 15 years; the fire in Wuhan (the fire broke out in Wuhan Hanzheng Street Wholesale Market in 2009) is also petitioning now. So I feel very pleased with this.

Now we are going to build the first super-large smart business district in Xinjiang and explore blockchain technology. We need to graft new technologies onto this. Of course, my approach is still only half a step faster than my colleagues in Xinjiang, because if one step is faster, I will die again. Our industry is very good now. We have a logistics park with 4,200 acres of land, and 110 logistics lines in China. The north and south are basically covered, including 16 routes covering neighboring countries. What do we do when we set up such a logistics network? The core problem in Xinjiang is that logistics is expensive, slow logistics, and underdeveloped logistics. We must combine trade logistics with Internet technology to do logistics on the Belt and Road Initiative, and some of this business are done. What I want to do next in Xinjiang is these two things, one is logistics of the "Belt and Road" and the other is to let Xinjiang's good things enter the mainland. I have confidence in the future development of Xinjiang.
