Just when everyone thinks that cross-strait relations are back on track and the great cause of unification is going with the flow, the situation in the Taiwan Strait has begun to stir up storm because the Democratic Progressive Party, which pursues the "Taiwan independence" party program, came to power, and began to stir up storm. Because the Tsai Ing-wen authorities refused to recognize the "1992 Consensus", they launched a large-scale ideological struggle on the island, and implemented the "resistance of unification with force" strategy, causing cross-strait relations to fall from the peak to the bottom.
At the same time, the Taiwan authorities accelerated their collusion with external forces in the United States and Japan, and gradually touched the political red line of the mainland by inviting senior officials to flee to Taiwan, selling arms to Taiwan and "showing a sense of existence" in international organizations. Especially the incident of Pelosi's attempt to travel to Taiwan in early August this year almost triggered a military conflict in the Taiwan Strait.
Once upon a time, Taiwan claimed that "the most beautiful scenery is people." Now, the scenery of Baodao is still as beautiful as before, but the social environment and political direction are no longer the Taiwan that holds the infinite love of many people. Recently, two incidents on Taiwan have confirmed to some extent the chaos on the island in recent years.
Giant Panda Tuantuan was born in 2004. In December 2008, it was selected as a gifted giant panda with another female giant panda " Yuanyuan ", carrying the expectations of the mainland people for the reunion of the motherland and heading to the beautiful Taiwan. In 2013 and 2020, with the joint efforts of experts from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, "Tuantuan" and "Yuanyuan" gave birth to cubs " Yuanzai " and "Yuanbao" respectively, forming a happy and fulfilling giant panda family.
However, starting from mid-this year, " Tuantuan " has become unwell, and the mainland sent experts to treat it was still useless. In the end, the 18-year-old giant panda "Tuantuan" stopped heartbeat at 13:00 on November 19.
Like animals, people have birth, old age, sickness and death. However, the death of the giant panda, as a symbol of cross-strait peaceful exchanges, seems to have a deeper meaning. Looking back on 2008, the mainland gave Taiwan giant pandas "Tuantuan" and "Yuanyuan" to the treasure island, and a giant panda whirlwind blew on the island in an instant. From the elderly, the younger generation to the younger children, visiting giant pandas is regarded as the top priority. In a subtle way, the hearts of the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are getting closer.
But now, as the Taiwan authorities blindly implement the "anti-China" policy, the channels for cross-strait peaceful dialogue have become increasingly narrow. The loss of the foundation of mutual trust is not only reflected in the repeated war preparedness police patrols against Taiwan, but also includes the inability of mainland people to visit Taiwan as they wish. The death of the giant panda "Tuantuan" this time is to some extent that the once haunting Taiwan can never go back.
If the death of "Tuantuan" means that the good memories of the mainland and Taiwan before gradually disappear, then TSMC, known as the "island protection mountain", gradually retreats to the United States, which means that the Taiwan authorities are "kneeling" the United States has become increasingly lacking in bottom line.
