China Taiwan Network reported on November 19th that in response to the mainland’s unfortunate death of the giant panda “ Tuantuan ”, the spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Zhu Fenglian, in response to an inquiry on the 19th, said that the mainland’s giant panda protection and research center received a notice from the Taipei Zoo today, and the giant panda “tuantuan” stopped heartbeat at 1:48 pm. We feel sad and regretful about the death of "Tuantuan".
Zhu Fenglian pointed out that after the giant panda "Tuantuan" fell ill, compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait were very concerned. The Giant Panda Protection Research Center established an expert group to continue to maintain online communication with Taipei Zoo, and was invited to send two experts to Taiwan to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and nursing work. We thank the professional teams on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, Taipei Zoo and relevant parties for their efforts to treat "Tuantuan". We hope that relevant parties on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will continue to do a good job in exchanges and cooperation in the protection of giant pandas.
Zhu Fenglian emphasized that the giant panda "Tuantuan" and "Yuanyuan" went to Taiwan to settle down 14 years ago, which is an important symbol of the peaceful development of cross-strait relations. Over the years, they have brought countless joy and good memories to their Taiwanese compatriots. Today, many people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait express their condolences and reminiscences for "Tuantuan" in different ways. As a "national treasure", giant pandas are worth cherishing by compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait.
