The giant panda "Tuantuan" born in Sichuan on September 1, 2004 is a 18-year-old giant panda "Tuantuan" given to Taiwan by the mainland on December 23, 2008. At that time, a female giant panda "Yuanyuan" was also sent to Taiwan with "Tuantuan". It is worth noting that the names "Tuantuan" and "Yuanyuan" were also nicknames voted at 0:00 on January 29, 2006 during the "Mainland Compatriots Giant Pandas to Compatriots in Taiwan" event at the 2006 Spring Festival Gala. Its name is self-evident, symbolizing the Chinese people's eager expectations for Taiwan to return to the motherland and unification of the cross-strait.
After "Tuantuan" and "Yuanyuan" arrived in Taiwan, they immediately became the most popular animal stars in the Taipei City Zoo. Taipei citizens loved "Tuantuan" and "Yuanyuan". In the later stage, "Tuantuan" and "Yuanyuan" added a pair of love treasures, and Taipei citizens loved them to the extreme.
But since late August this year, the 18-year-old "Tuantuan" suddenly developed unsettling symptoms such as epilepsy. After a series of treatments, his condition continued to worsen. Then the mainland sent two senior giant panda protection experts to visit "Tuantuan" and discussed and consulted with Taipei Zoo on how to treat "Tuantuan".
It is worth noting that since the illness of "Tuantuan", his condition has always been concerned with the hearts of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. In order to bless "Tuantuan", Taipei City Zoo specially set up several blank walls at the entrance of the park. At 4:41 pm, 4:58 pm, 6:28 pm and 7:33 pm on the 17th, the epilepsy of "Tuantuan" recurred four times. Finally, the experts from the medical consulting group suggested that the continuous administration of the drug was carried out by infusion first, and the condition of "Tuantuan" stabilized and there was no recurrence.
Regarding the cause of the disease of "Tuantuan" this time, the island veterinarian Zheng Qiuhong once said that the brain of "Tuantuan" has already undergone lesions, and the epilepsy he committed itself is an "unset time bomb" with great uncertainty. Moreover, the attack of this disease is very susceptible to many factors, such as weather changes, colds, etc.
In the early morning of November 19, "Tuantuan"'s condition worsened again. It had epilepsy seizures three times. Although colleagues in the medical care team gave anti-epileptic drugs to "Tuantuan", the symptoms of "Tuantuan" still continued to occur intermittently. After the veterinarian strengthened anti-epileptic and sedative drugs several times, the symptoms of epilepsy were not temporarily stopped until 7:3 in the morning.
On the morning of November 19, "Tuantuan" finally woke up, but he kept lying on the ground to rest and could not eat. His body seemed very weak, which was a very bad sign. Faced with the tendency of "Tuantuan" condition, the medical care team decided to help "Tuantuan" perform relevant CT scan diagnosis as soon as possible after discussion.

In the end, the entire medical team made a very painful decision to help "Tuantuan" end the current illness and leave in a deep sleep through anesthesia.
