Director Zhang Zhiyong graduated from Shixin Film Department. He has participated in the film crew since 1980 and has invested in the industry from the grassroots film venue. Later, he gradually challenged different positions such as director, screenwriter, producer, actor, etc. in different works. He is a native film worker.
As the director, Zhang Zhiyong won the Best Picture and Peace Special Award in the Asia Pacific Film Festival for "A Bird Screaming". This work describes the chronic poisoning and suffering from black foot disease caused by drinking too much deep well water from arsenic in the 1960s. It is realistic and reflects the contemporary social phenomenon in Taiwan. It makes people impressed by Director Zhang Zhiyong's helplessness in the face of fate.
