Southern Daily reporter learned from Shantou Archives that since the beginning of this year, the museum has drafted the "Shantou City Implementation Plan for Strengthening Overseas Chinese Approval Archives" based on the work requirements of the "eight batches", making specific plans in terms of strengthening top-level design, strengthening protection management, and increasing development and utilization, putting forward 15 work tasks, and officially issued them in January this year.

"According to the implementation plan to strengthen the work of overseas Chinese approving archives, the content of 15 work is divided into three aspects: collection and protection, research and development, and promotion and utilization." Huang Haiyan, director of Shantou Archives, introduced that since the first half of 2021, the work of overseas Chinese approving archives has progressed smoothly, and some work tasks have achieved phased results. Huang Haiyan introduced that the overseas Chinese appendix that was repaired first is relatively well preserved. Within the current range of technical capabilities, for overseas Chinese appendixes that are seriously damaged and may turn into dust with a slight touch. Shantou Archives chose to properly seal it and maintain the current state as much as possible. After the repair technology develops to a higher level in the future, such overseas Chinese appendixes will be repaired.
At the same time, Shantou City Archives has specially opened a special library of overseas Chinese approving archives in the Xinguan warehouse area. Before March this year, all the existing overseas Chinese approving archives entities of the Overseas Chinese Approval Cultural Relics Museum were transferred to Shantou City Archives for safekeeping.
