It is reported that there are 6 projects in the second phase of Jinan rail transit construction plan, including Phase 2 of Line 3, Line 4, Line 7 Phase 1, Line 6, Line 8 Phase 1, and Line 9 Phase 1. The main task is to solve east-west traffic congestion in the main urban area, support Jinan's "north cross" strategy, guide urban space development, and establish a skeleton network connecting the main hubs and functional areas of the city.

Among them, the second phase of Line 3 starts from the first phase of the first phase of the project in the south and ends at Yaoqiang Airport Station in the north. 6 Line mainly follows Jingyi Road, Minghu West Road, Daminghu Road, Shanda South Road and Fenghuang Road, connecting to three major external transportation hubs: Jinan West Station , Jinan Station , Jinan East Station , as well as key areas such as the West Passenger Station area, Commercial Port Area, International Financial City, Wangsheren Area, and East Station Area. 8 line is about 23 kilometers long and is laid along Jingshi East Road. The Xiuyuan River Depot is set up at the east end. The first phase of Line 8 is a express line from the central urban area to Zhangqiu, and the line connects the Tangye area, Shengjing area and other areas. The first phase of
9 line is along Shengli Road, Jinyu Avenue, Xiangquan Road and Ganghua Road. It is the backbone line of the northeast of the central urban area. The line connects key areas such as Huashan area and Wangsheren area.
2020 Jinan Municipal Government Work Report proposes to promote the accelerated network of rail transit, ensure that Line 2 is open to traffic within the year, start construction of all 6 lines in the second phase of rail transit, and start construction of the main urban area to Jiyang and the pilot area tram project.
According to the previously announced Jining City first round of urban rail transit construction plan (2019-2024) and network plan, the total scale of Jining City rail transit network is 239 kilometers, consisting of a total of 5 lines. The survey work runs through the feasibility study stage, design stage and construction stage. The design stage mainly focuses on the preliminary investigation and collection of survey data, and further identifies the engineering geological and water and land geological conditions along the rail transit project through necessary survey methods to provide basic materials for engineering design; the design stage includes overall design, preliminary design and construction drawing design.The main task of the survey and design stage is to unify line design principles and technical standards based on the line planning of the project feasibility study, clarify the plane location, station location and section design of the line, determine the interface between each system, further stabilize the line station and other design plans, and provide construction drawings for engineering construction.
