According to Taiwan's " United News Network " citing the latest data from the Taiwan Disaster Response Center on the 19th, as of 11:00 p.m. on the 18th, the earthquake had killed 1 person and injured 142 people. It is also expected that aftershocks of magnitude 5 or above may occur in the next week, and soil and rocks should be prevented from loosening and falling rocks.

According to Taiwan's "Central News Agency", Taiwan's meteorological department said that a magnitude 6.5 earthquake occurred in Guanshan area of Taitung on the evening of the 17th, and another magnitude 6.9 earthquake occurred in Chishang area of Taitung on the afternoon of the 18th. During this period, a large number of aftershocks occurred one after another, and reminded that there may be local temporary showers in the eastern part of Hualien in the next three days, and disaster relief personnel and people need to be more careful and warm.

At the same time, it is not ruled out that aftershocks of magnitude 5 or above will still occur in the next week; the epicenter area must beware of possible aftershock disasters and strictly prevent the occurrence of loose soil and rock falls caused by earthquakes.

In addition, this earthquake was caused by the staggered movement of the Central Mountain Range fault in Taiwan, and the main affected areas are located in Hualien and Taitung.
