The former site of the Shangchuan Railway Chuansha Station is now Pudong New District Cultural Relics Protection Unit , located at No. 2686 Huaxia East Road.
Now, passengers from Pudong Airport to downtown Shanghai can take the magnetic levitation train with a maximum speed of 430 km/h, and there are also various transportation options such as subway, bus, and self-driving. A hundred years ago, Sichuan San's external transportation was extremely inconvenient by water or land.
In order to change this situation, in 1921, Huang Yanpei and other ancestors raised funds to organize Shangchuan Transportation Company, and Huang Yanpei was appointed chairman. The purpose of establishing the company is to build Shangchuan County Road. The planned starting point Qingning Temple belongs to Shanghai County , and the terminal is Chuansha County Town, so it is called Shangchuan County Road.
922, after the construction of Shangchuan County Road started, the company decided to lay the railway tracks and drive the train. In October 1925, the first section of Qingning Temple to Gongjia Road intersection was completed and opened to traffic, with a length of 14 kilometers. There are 6 stations along the route, Qingning Temple, Jinjiaqiao, Xinlu, Shaojialan, Caojia Road and Gongjia Road, with a daily passenger reaching 1,000. In 1926, the Shangchuan Railway was basically completed and operated. The trains traveled between Qingning Temple Wharf on the Huangpu River and Chuansha Town . It was 21.15 kilometers long, with 4 locomotives and 6 passenger and freight vehicles, with 22 flights per day.
Since the track pitch of Shangchuan Railway is only 1 meter, narrower than the standard track pitch of 1.435 meters, it is commonly known as "Pudong Small Train" .
After that, the Shangchuan Railway continued to extend southward. In 1936, the Shangchuan Railway was extended to Zhuqiao Town . At this point, the Shangchuan Railway runs through Shanghai, Sichuan and Nanhui, with a total length of 35.35 kilometers and a total of 15 stations, greatly facilitating the transportation between Pudong and Puxi and promoting the development of Pudong's local economy.
Shangchuan Railway was originally planned to extend to Huinan and Datuan, but due to debt problems, all assets were mortgaged to the German Zen Foreign Company, and the Deshang Zen Foreign Company Shangchuan Railway Management Office was established, and the extension plan was abrupt. Anti-Japanese War broke out. After the fall of Shanghai, the 7.5-kilometer railway tracks from Jiangzhen to Zhuqiao section 3 were demolished and have not been restored.
After the liberation, in September 1954, Shangchuan Railway was rebuilt by the public-private joint venture Shanghai Pudong Public Transport Company and was renamed "Qingjiang Line". However, the Shangchuan Railway, which has experienced the baptism of war, is getting worse and worse, and the facilities are aging and spare parts are in urgent need of the market. The market can no longer purchase the same rails and accessories for repair.
1965, the section from Jiangzhen to Chuansha of Shangchuan Railway was demolished, and the line was reduced to Qingning Temple to Chuansha, and it was renamed "Shangchuan Line". On December 10, 1975, the entire Shangchuan Railway was suspended and demolished, and the remaining roadbed was converted into South Sichuan Highway and Shangchuan Highway.

Later, although the operating path of the Shanghai-Chuan Line has changed several times and no longer fully follows the direction of the Shangchuan Railway, it still maintained the direction from Qingning Temple to Chuansha. What traces have left on the Shangchuan Railway?
Shangchuan Road, Jinqiao Road, Xinjinqiao Road, Chuansha Road ... Part or all of these roads used to be the same name: Shangchuan Road, This is the route that the "Pudong Small Train" once drove nearly a hundred years ago.
There is a short station road in the north of Chuansha City. The original site of Shangchuan Railway Chuansha Station is located at the intersection of Huaxia East Road and Station Road. In 2003, the former site of the Shangchuan Railway Chuansha Station, which was rated as a cultural relics protection unit in Pudong New Area, was rebuilt here.
925, the Shangchuan Railway extended to Chuansha. In order to cross the densely populated Beimenwai Street, it built the first overpass in Shanghai, called the "dry bridge". At that time, the county magistrate of Chuansha County, wrote the name of the bridge "Feihong Fudao". After the demolition of the Shangchuan Railway, the Beimen Han Bridge was converted from a railway overpass into a highway overpass, and then the highway was cut straight and then left idle.
In 2010, due to the construction of Huaxia Elevated Road, the original site of the Chuansha Station of the Shangchuan Railway and the Beimen Han Bridge were both demolished. In 2013, the two were combined into one and were rebuilt at the intersection of Beishi Street and Huaxia East Road not far away, becoming a joint witness to the history of Pudong transportation and Pudong architecture.
The southern section of Shangchuan Railway was later converted into Nanfeng Highway . On the south side of the intersection of Zhupan Highway and Feng Highway in South Sichuan, a large square is built, which is the ruins of the Zhuqiao section of Shangchuan Railway.
