Mountains and rivers Guilin: protect the "kidney of the earth"
The fields and fish ponds are clear and bright... At the end of September, I walked into Huixian Town, Lingui District, Guilin City, and climbed to a high place to look into the distance. The farmland after the irrigation was like a polished mirror against the sunlight, rippling waves, bringing the sunlight, mountains and trees into it.
Huixian Wetland is located in Huixian Town, Lingui District, Guangxi. It is a typical wetland in the subtropical karst peak forest landform in Guangxi. It is also the largest karst wetland in my country. It has important environmental regulation functions and ecological effects such as maintaining water sources, purifying water quality, resisting drought and flood control, and maintaining biodiversity .
Huixian Wetland was officially included in the National Wetland Park pilot by the State Forestry Administration in 2012 and was named " Guangxi Guilin Huixian Karst National Wetland Park ", with a total planned area of 586.75 hectares.

"We plan to restore the navigation function of the ancient Guiliu Canal through dredging work and better drive the economic development of social ." Qin Jihua, deputy director of Huixian National Wetland Park Protection Center, introduced that in recent years, with the development of wetland protection work, it has driven about 100,000 visitors every year.
From 2017 to the present, Huixian Wetland has directly discharged 5 high-density farms (pigs, fish, ducks) from pollution sources, involving an area of about 100 mu; the cumulative pond reduction (cultivation) and wet-back area is about 155 hectares (within the scope of wetland park and surrounding areas); 30 mu of aquatic plants, water lilies, 2100 mu of lotus, and 230 mu of calamus, the area of vegetation restoration is about 50 hectares, and an ecological embankment is built.
In order to protect the "kidney of the Li River", the Lingui District People's Procuratorate Federation Xian Wetland Protection Center, the People's Government of Huixian Town, Lingui District and other relevant departments actively carried out special rectification actions to combat illegal fishing. In response to the complex waterways of Huixian Wetland, through drone aerial photography, on-site exploration and other methods, we will focus on patrolling the natural waters and rivers in the wetland park, resolutely investigate and punish electric fish, poisonous fish and illegal online fishing, comprehensively clean up and ban illegal fishing tools such as "family net", ground cage , and crack down on illegal fishing and other illegal fishing.
Wetlands, forests and oceans, are known as the three major ecosystems of the earth. The wetland resources, known as the "kidney of the earth", are ecosystems with many unique functions. They play an important role in maintaining ecological balance and maintaining biodiversity.

Guangxi Guanyang Guanjiang National Wetland Park is located in the southern part of Guanyang County, Guilin City, and spans five townships including Dongjing Yao Township, Guanyinge Township, Huangguan Town, , Xinjie Town, Guanyang Town, and other 5 townships. The total length is 52 kilometers, the total area is 612.43 hectares, and the wetland rate is 83.31%. Guanjiang Wetland is adjacent to Qianjiadong National Nature Reserve and Haiyangshan Autonomous Region-level Nature Reserve. It is an important area for protecting water ecological resources and regional biodiversity.
Wetland Park is the main channel for migratory bird migration in Guangxi and has very important ecological value."The flowers and plants are all covered, and there is a vibrant scene everywhere." Yi Mingsheng, director of the Guanjiang National Wetland Park Office of Guanyang, Guangxi, introduced that in order to protect and restore the wetlands, Guanyang has implemented a series of ecological protection projects such as sand mining activities, ecological slope protection, and flood control embankment vegetation restoration, so that the wetlands can fully demonstrate the beauty of life.
In the Xiongjiazhai Experience Park of Guanjiang National Wetland Park, through the construction of a wet grassland entrance square and platform, the construction of trails, trestle bridges, , tingtree , bird watching houses, bird rest pavilions, rest corridors, landscape sculptures, and plant green seedlings, etc., so that tourists can enter the wetlands, get close to wetland creatures, experience the natural wetland landscape, and promote the improvement of the people's awareness of wetland ecological resources and environmental protection.

mangroves : The "Green Great Wall" that maintains the ecological balance of sea and land
lush forests, egrets fly by, and the Beihai Jinhai Bay mangrove ecological protection area is full of vitality in autumn. Mangroves are known as marine guardians and are an important coastal wetland ecosystem. The large number of mangroves are like a "green Great Wall", maintaining the ecological balance of sea and land.
In recent years, the area of North Sea mangroves has increased by 127.11 hectares, and the total area of local mangrove resources has reached 4210.99 hectares, accounting for 45.1% of the mangrove area in Guangxi, ranking first in Guangxi.
"The mangroves form a green barrier by the sea, which well blocks the invasion of the waves on the embankment and plays an important role in protecting the coast." According to Feng Feng, Beihai Jinhai Bay Mangrove Ecological Tourism Zone Management Co., Ltd., the mangrove plant grows slowly, but its root system is very developed, and its roots are tangled on the mudflats.

After the ebbing tide, the mangroves have become a paradise for animals. Walking on the viewing plank road, you can see the mangroves active in the mangroves bullet-patterned fish , fiddly crab and various insects and shellfish.
Feng Feng said that lush mangroves provide habitat and food sources for a variety of animals and plants. marine animals provide nutrition to mangroves by decomposing mangroves leaves. "Mangroves form a precious marine ecosystem and play a crucial role in protecting the diversity of marine organisms ."
Beihai wetlands are becoming more and more abundant in biodiversity. At present, the species of birds recorded in Beihai have gradually increased to 467. A total of 182 species of birds have been monitored in the Jinhai Bay mangrove reserve, and the world's extremely dangerous birds, spoon-billed sandpiper , as well as more than ten national second-class protected birds, including the huanzhi bird, black-winged kite , and brown-winged cuckoo .

In order to strengthen the resource management and maintenance of mangroves, Beihai City continues to carry out the "green-increasing" project. Through various public welfare activities, projects such as tidal flat replanting and ecological landscape forest belts have been constructed, focusing on ecological restoration of residual, broken belts and suitable tidal flats. A total of more than 80,000 mangrove seedlings have been replanted, and the area of new mangroves is about 8 mu.
When it comes to the protection of mangroves, we have to mention Fengjiajiang water environment governance. Fengjiajiang runs through the Beihai city district of Guangxi from north to south, and is the largest water system in the main urban area. Its estuary connects to the Beihai Jinhai Bay mangrove ecological protection zone in the east and to the Beihai Yintan scenic area in the west. Fengjiajiang's ecological environment has a direct impact on mangroves.

According to Du Youyi, deputy general manager of Beihai North Drainage Environment Development Co., Ltd., in the past, the ecological environment of Fengjiajiang was harsh, and direct discharge of sewage, aquaculture pollution, and sludge deposition were once the main sources of pollution that led to the deterioration of Fengjiajiang's water quality. "There are 363 rain and sewage discharge outlets along the Fengjiajiang area, the shrimp pond breeding area is nearly 2,000 acres, and 24 pig farms. There are 45,000 tons of sewage discharged into Fengjiajiang every day. Such a large impact will have a harsh impact on the animals and plants of mangroves."
Fengjiajiang governance project is the first comprehensive water environment improvement project in the offshore basin in the country. By improving the water ecological environment of the Fengjiajiang basin, it can protect Yintan , protect mangroves, and enhance the urban image of Beihai and the living environment of residents.
In March 2018, the Fengjiajiang project started construction. Through the use of source control and sewage interception, endogenous control, and construction of recycled water plants, illegal buildings have become pollution filter belts, and the ponds have broken ridges have turned into bird habitat , and the chaotic tidal flats have been transformed into biological migration corridors... In January 2021, the Fengjiajiang Coastal National Wetland Park opened and operated, and this open urban central park green space has become the "back garden" for Beihai citizens.
Currently, the Fengjiajiang water body has reached the standard of quasi-four types of surface water. The regional benthic organisms have increased from 66 species in 2017 to 89 species, and the bird species has increased from 136 species in 2017 to 170 species. More importantly, thanks to Feng Jiajiang's protection, the silver beaches, the waves and sands are everywhere, the mangroves are continuous, and the mangroves are flying together.

Now, the mangroves have become "golden forest", driving the surrounding people to have a meal in tourism and embark on the road to prosperity. According to reports, in recent years, Beihai has integrated its unique cultural connotation into its own ecological advantages, created a multi-dimensional tourism brand such as "ecology + culture" and "ecology + sports" to promote the development of the green economy industrial chain. Among them, the Jinhai Bay Mangrove Scenic Area has received an average of more than 400,000 tourists per year, and the annual tourism revenue has increased by about 26%.
Beihai Weizhou Island: Get out of the new green development road with beautiful ecology, popularity and increased efficiency
colorful tidal flats, coastal plank roads, white lighthouses and other unique island scenery, allowing tourists to linger on the Weizhou Island. As one of the "Top Ten Most Beautiful Islands in China", Weizhou Island is the youngest and largest volcanic island in my country. Relying on its unique ecological resource advantages, while promoting tourism development, Weizhou Island also regards protecting the ecology as the "lifeline" for protecting Weizhou Island, painting a new picture of island tourism.
Marine organisms are the "ecological barometer". Coral reefs are an important part of marine ecosystems. Healthy coral reef ecosystems play important functions and roles in the proliferation of marine biological resources, stabilizing and regulating ecosystems, marine disaster reduction, and reducing greenhouse effect .
Coral reefs are an important and distinctive marine ecological resource on Weizhou Island. In order to better protect and repair the coral reef ecosystem, the Beihai Weizhou Island Tourism Zone Management Committee, the Weizhou Town People's Government, Zhuzheliao Village and the Guangxi University Ocean College jointly created the "Coral Pavilion - Weizhou Island Coral Reef Protection and Repair Demonstration Base". The base is themed on the ecological functions and biodiversity of coral reefs, the composition of coral reef ecosystems on the Qingzhou Island, the current status of coral reef degradation and its causes, and introduces in detail the implementation of coral reef protection and ecological restoration in governments, law enforcement departments, scientific research institutions, universities and other related protection measures and policies, and is an important window for the protection of marine ecological environment in the Qingzhou Island.

Due to factors such as global warming , ocean acidification, stealing coral , overfishing, coastal development, and enemy pest outbreaks, the degradation of coral reefs on the Weizhou Island is severe.
Ma Jing, a staff member of the Coral Museum of Weizhou Island, said that although the coral reefs on Weizhou Island have improved in recent years, the current situation is still not optimistic, with the average coral coverage of only about 6%. "Due to the degradation of coral reefs, the beach at the entrance of the Coral Pavilion has retreated by about 100 meters in the past decade. Without coral reefs, the beach will face the erosion of the waves."
In order to protect coral reefs, Beihai City has issued the " Beihai City Weizhou Island Ecological Environment Protection Regulations ", making regulations prohibiting the mining, destruction of corals and coral reefs, and prohibiting the sale and use of coral reefs and their products and fragments.
In addition, the Management Committee of the Weizhou Island Tourism Zone has also taken multiple measures to protect coral reefs, such as organizing divers to conduct scientific training on coral reefs, limiting the number of tourists to the island every day according to the environmental capacity of Weizhou Island, and jointly building a science popularization education base for coral museums with Guangxi University, cultivating and breeding suitable coral varieties, and transplanting and repairing coral reefs on Weizhou Island.

The protection of coral reefs is also inseparable from technology."Beigang has a 200-acre restoration area. We have also put in monitoring in the sea area to monitor the growth of coral seedlings at any time." Jin Xin, deputy director of the Coral Museum of Weizhou Island, introduced that the local government has increased its investment in science and technology to promote the restoration of coral reefs. Scientific researchers carry out coral cultivation and transplantation work on Weizhou Island, research coral reefs and protect coral reefs.
Due to the implementation of ecological protection measures, the overall ecological situation of coral reefs in the seas of Weizhou Island has been improving in recent years. At present, coral larvae in the sea area around Weizhou Island has been supplemented, and the overall coral coverage rate has increased by nearly 1%.
As a tourist island, there is a sewage treatment plant on Weizhou Island. At present, Weizhou Island has achieved zero discharge of sewage to sea. Su Chaogui, general manager of Weizhou Island Sewage and Garbage Treatment Co., Ltd., introduced that the average daily sewage treatment volume of the sewage treatment plant is 1,200-1,300 tons. The treated sewage can meet the four-class water standards on the surface, thereby further protecting the ecological environment of the islands and surrounding seas.
The ecology of Weizhou Island is constantly improving, and the Chinese Brzez whale group is the best witness. Since 2018, Brzech whale has been frequently active in the waters near the Weizhou Island. According to expert scientific research, this is the first large-scale cetacean living group distributed near the coast discovered in mainland China. As of now, the number of individuals identified more than 50 people is more than 50.

Relying on the two major theme resource systems of "volcano" and "island", Weizhou Island vigorously develops tertiary industry . The island has rich scenic spots and attractions, including land sea natural landscapes, cultural landscapes, marine sports projects, etc. It is understood that boutique homestays have developed into a characteristic industry. About 1,000 hotels, homestays, etc. in the Weizhou Island Tourism Area have been registered. The homestay industry has attracted more than 3,000 villagers from the island to find employment, and the monthly salary of employees is about 5,000 yuan.
Ecological protection and tourism development complement each other, and Weizhou Island has embarked on a new path of green development with beautiful ecology, concentrated popularity and increased efficiency.
