According to Taiwan's United Daily News, the Kinmen Bridge was opened to traffic on the 26th. Taiwan’s “Highway Bureau” stated that it is scheduled to be officially opened to traffic on October 30. It is reported that the Kinmen Bridge is the first cross-sea bridge in Taiwan. This bridge mainly connects the Da Kinmen and the small Kinmen . From Hupu Road, Lieyu Township, to Huxia Cihu Road, Jinning Township, , , the total length of the entire line is 5.4 kilometers, and the middle cross-sea bridge is 4.8 kilometers. After it is officially opened to traffic, the distance between the Da Kinmen and the Little Kinmen is only 5 minutes.
It is understood that the total fund for the construction of the Kinmen Bridge has reached more than 9.6 billion NT$1 NT$2. Since its construction in 2012, it has taken 10 years and has changed three manufacturers. Since the Kinmen Bridge is the first long-distance cross-sea bridge in Taiwan, the contractor and construction team lack experience, resulting in two manufacturers termination of contracts due to serious backward progress during the construction process. In 2016, the Kinmen Bridge was re-contracted and undertaken by Dongpi, and the project was restarted on December 28 of that year. According to the plan, the Kinmen Bridge has two motor vehicle lanes in both directions, as well as sidewalks and bicycle lanes. The speed limit for the entire bridge is 60 kilometers per hour. Traffic control will be controlled in the future based on strong winds. After the Kinmen Bridge is opened to traffic, traffic between Kinmen and Kinmen will no longer be interrupted due to weather walruses, and people traveling between the two places will have a land transportation channel.
