MG ONE made its debut in July this year, this is the first compact SUV model built on the SAIC SIGMA platform. The exterior design is quite radical, but the powertrain is equipped with a 1.5T+CVT combination, which may make some friends feel that the car is not very good. So today we brought the largest SAIC Guangde test park in Asia to experience the dynamic performance of this car.
In terms of appearance, the MG ONE we tested the drive is mainly for digital sports α version color matching and is also an exclusive bubble orange color. The overall front of the car has a very strong visual impact, especially the design of the center grille, which is really eye-catching.
MG ONE's body sizes are 4579×1866×1601mm in length, width and height, and wheelbase of 2670mm. It is a standard compact SUV, but the MG ONE built on the SIGMA platform has an ultra-low center of gravity, which also lays the foundation for too sporty performance. In terms of tires, the MG ONE is equipped with a Continental PC6 tire with a specification of 225/50 R19. The cost is not low, but it brings excellent grip and braking performance.

I really like the effect of the MG ONE taillight lighting. The high-position brake lights on the rear wing of the car are very similar to the pilot lights of a racing car, and the shape of the entire taillight makes the rear of the car look a bit wide-body visual effect, which is really beautiful.
The most eye-catching thing in terms of interior is that this size reaches 30 inches of three-screen. This test drive did not carefully experience this system, but from the perspective of the display screen and the reversing image, the screen resolution and display effect are quite excellent. It’s just that the touch panel on the left needs to be adapted to when using it.
MG ONE The sporty atmosphere in the car is also directly filled with. The two integrated bucket chairs in the front row have a good experience, the seats are well wrapped, and the wings on both sides of the seats can also completely wrap around the body. The steering wheel inherits the SUPER SPORT buttons of the old model, which are very convenient to use in daily driving. It is very comfortable to switch the sports mode with a light press.
power, MG NOE is equipped with a MEGA Tech 1.5T Pro high-power engine with a maximum power of 181 horsepower and a maximum torque of 285 Nm. The book data of this engine is quite outstanding. In terms of gearbox, MG ONE is equipped with a gearbox code-named CVT 280. This CVT transmission has the latest torque steel belt designed by Dr. Caitong, with a speed ratio of 7 and can carry a maximum torque of 325Nm, which is more than enough for this 1.5T engine. The chassis is still generous, adopting the structure of the front McPherson independent suspension with a rear multi-link independent suspension.
We briefly tested the acceleration brake performance of this MG ONE on site, and the entire data is still very surprising. The acceleration time of 0-100 km/h is about 8.5 seconds, which is very beautiful for this SUV with price and displacement. It can be seen that the entire acceleration curve is quite smooth and stable, which is also the biggest advantage brought by the CVT gearbox. In terms of braking, thanks to the new platform architecture and tires, MG ONE has achieved braking data of about 35 meters, and from the data point of view, the entire braking force output is also quite linear. The actual brake foot feel is a bit like a German, and I have a lot of confidence to step on it.
After testing the acceleration brake, we came to the high-ring project of the test yard that was 9 kilometers long. In this project, we actually measured the maximum speed and it was also very good. When the vehicle is full, we can drive the car to the limit speed of about 190 km/h, which is definitely more than enough to cope with our domestic legal speed limit. This data is excellent for this 1.5T engine and CVT gearbox.
In addition to power performance, we also experienced the suspension performance of MG ONE. The complex road surface in the Guangde test yard covers almost all road surfaces, and can effectively monitor the suspension travel and reaction of this car on different speeds and road surfaces.
The entire suspension setting is relatively comfortable, but the toughness of the shock absorber is really beyond my expectations. The premium feel brought by the excellent chassis shock filter is definitely far beyond the price of this car for just over 100,000 yuan. There is no extra bounce on the undulating road surface, but it can absorb vibration well. Although the initial section is soft, the support of the rear section of the suspension is also retained, which is really good.
The next elk test and pile-wrap test are a comprehensive test of the dynamic performance of this car. The electronic limited slip intervention in the elk test is very timely. I can basically avoid the risk at a speed of 65 km/h, which is very good for an SUV model.
In the pile-walking process, the MG ONE's CVT gearbox is quite popular. It has a sensitive power output without waiting for the speed and gear. The steering feels moderate. With the lower center of gravity of the body, the body posture is maintained well when wing the piles, and there is no strong tendency to shake the tail.
In general, the dynamic performance of MG ONE is beyond my expectations. The low center of gravity of the SIGMA platform, the smooth CVT gearbox, the excellent acceleration results, and the suspension performance that surprised me the most can prove that this MG ONE is a very mature product and will also have strong competitiveness in models of the same level. But today's feelings are limited to the test site. Only in the later stage of the test drive on the city road can you experience the true performance of this car more deeply.
