reporters on the Taiwan Channel look at the world! Hello everyone, I am Huang Zhengzheng, a reporter from the Taiwan Taiwan in the Philippines.
In the past few days, domestic friends may be more familiar with the 11th Typhoon "Xuan Lannuo" this year, and the Philippines where I am is now in the rainy season. Typhoon rainstorm, it made even worse.
On the evening of August 23, we saw the Marikina Municipal Government release a message saying that the water level of the Marikina River has exceeded 15 meters. My heart skipped a beat at that time.

The Marikina River is the "flood weather vane" in the capital region. It is located in the northern part of the Greater Manila region. It is low-lying and there are no buildings such as embankments on the banks of the river. Many residents live along the river. Once floods occur, it is easy to cause disasters.

At the same time, the Marikina River flows into the Pasig River and Neihu Bay. The water level here exceeds 15 meters, which means that a level one warning is reached. If the water level continues to soar, the possibility of large-scale flooding in the entire Greater Manila area will greatly increase. Therefore, monitoring the water level of the Marikina River has become an important means for local governments to prevent and control floods. Once the water level reaches 18 meters, residents will be forced to evacuate.

Marikina City has also opened a live broadcast account on social media. Once the river water level reaches the warning level, citizens can see the water level mark through the 24-hour live broadcast camera. There is a large bridge in the middle of the river, and the water level scale is marked with eye-catching numbers on the piers.

On the evening of August 23, I would open this live broadcast account from time to time, pay attention to the situation of the river, and be ready to report on the spot at any time. Fortunately, the river water only rose to about 15.5 meters that day and began to fall back, without causing any major disasters.

I remember two years ago, a typhoon also hit the Philippines. The water of the Marikina River soared to 22 meters, almost flush with the bridge deck. The nearby houses were submerged to a two-story high. The rescuers needed a boat to pick them up.

That time, my colleague and I wade through the flood that had not crossed our calf near Marikina City to report. Afterwards, local residents also reminded us that there are often drowned mice in floods, and it is very easy to get epidemics when stepped on them, so we must take more protection. So the Marikina River can be said to be the river that impressed me the most in the entire capital region.

However, there is still a river in Manila , which is also very important. This is the Pasig River, known as Manila's "Mother River". The river is 25 kilometers long and connects the Inner Lake and Manila Bay, and passes through five major cities in the capital Greater Manila region. It is said that in the 16th century, Spanish colonists first landed in the Bay of Manila and saw this river. The legend of
is not necessarily true, but the Pasig River does play an important role in Manila's development history. It is called the "lifeline" and is the main waterway. Various economic activities are also revolving around this golden waterway. After hundreds of years, this region has developed into the most important economic center of the Philippines. The Presidential Palace of the Philippines is Maracan Palace , which is also located on the bank of the Pasig River. To this day, cargo ships still sail on the Pasig River.
The most famous internet celebrity check-in place in the Pasig River is the two bridges that China aids the Philippines. The Epan Bridge connects the financial center Makati and Mandaluyong City. The bridge looks like two seagulls flying side by side, meaning that China-Philippines friendship spreads its wings and flys together.

. The Binondo Royal City Bridge, which connects Chinatown and Spain's royal city, is a white arch bridge. The traffic in Chinatown is full of traffic, the history of the Royal City of Spain is solemn, the afterglow of the sunset shines on the water of the Pasig River, and the flags of the two countries on the white arches of the bridge are shining brightly. This is the most beloved check-in moment for countless Filipino cycling enthusiasts.

In fact, there were bridges on the Pasig River Bridge in the past, but they were mainly two lanes and the road surface was very narrow, so the traffic congestion was very serious. The new bridge is two-way four-lane , with a designed speed of 40 km/h. Compared with the previous one, it can greatly improve transportation capacity and alleviate traffic congestion in Chinatown and Wangcheng areas.

Filipino workers who built the bridge once told us that they hope to take their grandchildren to see Manila's mother river and the Chinese bridge on the river in the future. This bridge is his pride.
