Jiwei. Industry insiders estimate that the capacity utilization rate of UMC in the fourth quarter is expected to maintain a healthy state, with about 95% to 100%. Among them, the 12-inch capacity should be able to maintain full load under the support of customer long-term contracts; the utilization rate of 8-inch and 6-inch capacity may decline as the demand in the communications market weakens.
According to Taiwan's Economic Daily, the United States has recently expanded its chip control over mainland China. Industry insiders believe that UMC's proportion of supercomputing and fin field-effect transistor (FinFET) structure products is relatively low, and it is expected to be limited by the new US ban.
It is reported that UMC will hold a third-quarter legal meeting on October 26, and the market focuses on issues such as demand in the first half of 2023, UMC's OEM quotation, capital expenditure and whether the expansion plan will be adjusted.
UMC's financial report showed that the company's consolidated revenue in the third quarter was 75.391 billion NT$ , a month-on-month increase of 4.63%, and increased by 34.85% year-on-year, rewriting a new high for 12 consecutive quarters. The cumulative consolidated revenue in the first three quarters was NT$210.869 billion, a year-on-year increase of 37.01%, continuing to hit a new high in the same period.
