The first match of the FIFA World Cup in 2022 will be held between hosts Qatar and Ecuador on Sunday, November 20.
Host country is arranged in Group A and starts the competition has become a habit. The match will be held at the 60,000-seat Al-Bayt Stadium in Alcool, Qatar and will begin at 7pm Arab Standard Time (AST). This is the only game to be played that day. The other two members of Group A - Senegal and the Netherlands - will play on Monday, November 21 at 7pm AST. Tickets for the
competition have been sold out. Qatar will compete in the FIFA World Cup for the first time, after it has never entered the qualifying stage in its history. This is Ecuador's fourth competition and the first time since 2014. The best they achieved in the competition was in the 2006 competition, where they reached the last 16.
However, their journey ended after losing 1-0 to England. Both teams will have a hard time competing against the other two members of their group.
Senegal is the defending champion of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), and the Netherlands is one of the strongest teams to compete. The 2022 FIFA World Cup final will be held on Sunday, December 18 at the iconic stadium of Lussel in Lussel, Qatar.
The 80,000 seat stadium is the largest venue in the host country. The last World Cup final was played between France and Croatia , with the former winning 4-2.
