China Taiwan Network reported on April 9th that on February 28 last year, 11 "independence-sponsored youth" broke into Chiang Kai-shek's Mausoleum in Cihu, Daxi Town, Taoyuan County, and poured red paint on Chiang Kai-shek's coffin and portrait. The Taoyuan District Prosecutor's Office prosecuted for damage and openly insulting the grave. On the 9th, the Taoyuan District Court ruled that 11 people expressed their political stance, not without other legal channels. The relevant departments spent more than 240,000 yuan to clean up afterwards. If they were not dealt with, wouldn’t it be better to encourage others to violate the law and sentence 11 people to 55 to 59 days of detention based on damage and obstruction of public affairs.
According to Taiwan's United Daily News, Taoyuan District Court sentenced Li Jiayu (32 years old) and Chen Yuzhang (37 years old) to 59 days of detention for damages, Zhuang Chengcheng (21 years old), Guo Runting (23 years old), Guo Qiaoying (21 years old), Luo Yi (21 years old), Zhou Weili (24 years old), Wang Tengwei (30 years old), Zhang Minqiao (22 years old), and Qiu Junxiang (21 years old) to 55 days of detention for obstructing public affairs, and Yang Zhicheng (27 years old) to 59 days of detention for obstructing public affairs, both of which were fined by Yi Ke and can be appealed.
Taoyuan District Court announced the verdict at 4 pm on the 9th. Luo Yi's mother, one of the 11 young people, came to court to listen to the verdict. Regarding the verdict, she said that her son was already an adult and she should be responsible for what she did. (China Taiwan Network Chen Jiahui)
