Not long ago, a "Yonghu" main battle tank of the Taiwan Army fell under the bridge during the exercise, and the other four members except the driver died. This may also be explained by poor driving skills and human-made reasons. However, the "Yonghu" main battle tank is now embarrassing again. According to Taiwan's "Central News Agency", the Sixth Corps of the Taiwan Army stated that when the 2nd Battalion of the 542nd Brigade War Battalion returned to the test before the combat power assessment was carried out at the North Test Center, the gun barrel of a CM11 tank (Yonghu's main battle tank) broke from the rear of the smoke exhauster in the gun bore due to unknown reasons. Fortunately, no casualties were caused. The army has completely stopped shooting and conducted inspections. The Taiwan Army said that when the 2nd Battalion of the 542nd Brigade conducted a test firing before the combat effectiveness test was carried out at the North Test Center, a CM11 tank broke from the rear of the smoke exhauster for unknown reasons, and the crew was not injured.
"Yonghu" main battle tank was officially equipped with the Taiwan Army in 1990. During the research and development process, it can be basically regarded as the turret of the improved M48H main battle tank was installed on the chassis of the M60A3 main battle tank. At the same time, the fire control system of the early M1 "Abrams" main battle tank was also installed. The main gun was replaced with the M68 105mm rifled gun authorized by Taiwan. When firing the M774 tail stable armor-piercing projectile, the initial velocity of the muzzle reached 1508 meters/sec, and it can penetrate about 180 mm thick armor plate with a 60-degree inclination from 2000 meters. In other words, Taiwan also has the ability to produce high-bucket pressure artillery.
According to the pictures seen so far, the main gun of this "Yanghu" main battle tank had a bore explosion. This gun is a M68 tank gun produced locally in Taiwan. The prototype is the famous British L7 105mm rifled gun with 56 times the diameter. It is the standard configuration of the second generation of Western main battle tanks after the war. China also produced the Type 81, Type 83 and Type 94 105mm rifled gun after introducing its technology. Its power is significantly greater than the 100mm rifled gun installed on the Soviet T-55 main battle tank. After improvement, it can fire new ammunition and can also deal with the early models of T-72 main battle tanks. The body tube life of the L7 high-bucket pressure tank gun is about 1,000 rounds when firing high-speed tail wing stable shell-out armor-piercing missiles.
The main reason for the artillery blowout is the performance of the gun and the heat resistance of the barrel. A good-performance cannon can fire the second shell within 1-2 seconds after the first shot is fired, forming a saturated attack. However, if the barrel is of poor quality and heat resistance, the first shell is fired and the explosion may occur. The second reason for the blasting of the chamber is that the maintenance of the gun is such as gunpowder dirt appears in the barrel and not being cleaned in time, or sand enters the barrel, the possibility of blasting of the chamber will also increase when used. Taiwan has stopped production of 105mm tank guns. It is likely that the life of the artillery barrel is exhausted, or that dirt inside the barrel is not cleaned in time after shooting, resulting in a blowout.
